The city of Shawnee, Kansas, apologized to onlookers after Kansas Secretary of State and GOP gubernatorial candidate Kris Kobach rode in a jeep beside a replica .50 caliber rifle.
Kobach was taking part in a Johnston County parade on Saturday morning.
The Kansas City Star reports that Kobach rode in a jeep on which a replica .50 caliber rifle was mounted.

And this little piece: "Shawnee Community Christian Church pastor Johnny Lewis said, It was pretty shocking. There were audible gasps from the folks we were sitting by. The Star indicates Lewis worried that kids watching the parade thought they might be victims of a school shooting. Lewis reached out Kobach via Facebook, saying, Why was that necessary sir? My child didnt need that today."
Srsly? Certainly your child doesn't ever see any "gun violence" in any games of movies or tv shows right pastor?
My liberal relatives in Kansas City have lit up Facebook about Kobach and his Jeep in The Shawnee days parade. Kris is a good guy but will lose in the primary to Jeff Coyler. Both are good men.
>>Certainly your child doesn’t ever see any “gun violence” in any games of movies or tv shows right pastor?
He could be one of those pastors who forbids it and his children will be typical PKs when they get free of his control.
This article shouldn't have a title beginning with "Kansas City." (Of course, it's not the poster's fault when an article has a misleading title, and the story deserves attention.)
I only copy and paste. Even when I know it’s wrong. Maybe we should call AWR and give him a heads up. I actually did get a response from him one time. I alerted him to some anti 2nd happening in NV and he followed up on it.
imagine the mass hysteria if he had held a pop tart chewed into a ‘gun-like L shape’?
This is absolutely asinine- The left are succeeding in portraying anyone who supports gun rights, has a gun on them, or mentions guns at all, as evil
[[Lewis worried that kids watching the parade thought they might be victims of a school shooting. Lewis reached out Kobach via Facebook, saying, Why was that necessary sir? My child didnt need that today.]]
Golly- what is this precious little snowflake going to do when the military marches in a parade? ROTC? or when police are standing in the vicinity with guns strapped to hips?
Hey preacher- GOOD law abiding citizens with guns are NOT the problem- Sorry you got the vapors over a fake gun of all things!
Would they prefer a Dukakis Tank Commander moment?
Facepalm Ping.
apologies are due for riding with a REPLICA
the governor of Kansas should certainly have carried a genuine rifle, not just a fake
Regardless- the pastor needs to teach his kids that people have an inalienable right to own guns, and that law abiding citizens are not the problem- criminals are- otherwise his child is going to grow up a coward afraid to go outside because they might meet some law abiding citizen exercising their second amendment rights. He is instilling unreasonable fear in his child, and he is trying to instill unreasonable fear in the citizens of this country as well- and he is using his child to further his liberal agenda so that everyone who sees a gun, sees a gun advertisement, sees a replica gun gets all bent out of shape and vilifies the gun owners
Maybe; whatever happens, thanks for posting.
The pastor should NOT bring his little precious to the Reno Veterans Day Parade then. They’d have to gurney him away in a straight jacket.
LOL! Always the messenger.
Obviously, they never watched ‘The Rat Patrol’.

{Indeed, February and May polls by Remington Research Group gave Colyer a 2 percentage point lead on Kobach. Both polls had Barnett and Selzer under 10 percent.
However, the JMC Analytics and Polling survey in March put Kobach in the lead with 31 percent of the vote. The other heavyweights: Colyer, 18 percent; Barnett, 10 percent; and Selzer, 4 percent.}
Many of the liberal communities/churches in Kansas have a history of welcoming illegal immigrants. This was likely a jointly sponsored shot at anti-illegal Kris in addition to advancing an anti-2d viewpoint.

I myself was going to point to their Mission & Values page. For example, this church belongs to "Disciples GLAD Alliance" and supposedly welcomes everyone regardless of such things as "sexual orientation" and "political stance," though presumably they might try to discipline Kris Kobach.
I also looked for anything about specifically Christian beliefs, the way that other church websites include a section called "statement of faith," "what we believe," or words to that effect. There are multiple mentions of "Christ" or "Jesus," but this document is vague about matters of belief and practice.
