Trump should submit Korean deal to Senate as treaty for ratification: House leader McCarthy
The Washington Times ^ | June 2, 2018 | Stephen Dinan

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Saturday that President Trump should submit any eventual deal with North Korea to the Senate for approval as a treaty, saying lawmakers should have a full say on the matter.

The California Republican said President Obama bungled the Iran nuclear deal negotiations by not treating them a treaty but instead as an executive agreement. That made it easy for Mr. Trump to revoke U.S. participation in the deal earlier this year.

Mr. McCarthy told MSNBC’s Hugh Hewitt the treaty route is a way of not only making the deal lasting, but also of countering those who argue Mr. Trump’s tear-up of the Iran deal makes other countries uncertain of negotiating with the U.S.

......” I cannot imagine anyone in the Senate voting against it...Not even Democrats”....

Watch then and be amazed.

But this really should be between both the Koreans..not us.

” Obama had help, republican senator Corker was instrumental in subverting the constitution for Obama’s Iran “deal”

I don’t know why folks focus on Corker. He was merely the author.

It pass the Senate 98-1 (Only Tom Cotton against). And the House 400-25.

There’s a BOATLOAD of Republicans complicit in this usurpation of the Constitution.

It essentially make it where any deal Obama signed would become law unless 2/3 of BOTH the House and the Senate voted to oppose.

To hang only the Republicans who collaborated on this treason would require over a mile of rope.

Remember this when they ask for your vote in November.

There would be 98+ votes for a treaty with Norklandia.

Our congressional leaders are showing their idiocy once again....begging for face time and political posturing on such a delicate and early on negotiations just throw mud in the waters.

Stand down and let the process get started for crying out loud!

Six years after the Japanese surrender we signed this treaty with them that codified our relationship.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_Treaty_Between_the_United_States_and_Japan

A treaty with Norklandia is entirely appropriate if our conditions are met.

And Kim would be a laughable fool to accept anything less in exchange for his nukes. It would be nothing but suicide.

I was watching a tv show “Chosin” a couple nights ago and, yes, it was a UN action.

I fear McCarthy is up to friend Ryan’s Never Trumper tricks to limit Trump’s authority.

*************

Your fear is well founded. Anything that McCarthy and his fellow RINOs are for, we ought to be worried about. These are the same people who refuse to support Trump.

The surrender of Japan in 1945 was not submitted to the Senate, but the Treaty of San Francisco, which formally ended hostilities with Japan and the Allies, settled boundaries, and set reparations in 1951, was ratified by the Senate.

This needs to be a treaty, and its needs Senate ratification to bind the United States.

Quaddifi died at the hands of the treacherous Hillary Clinton because the Senate did not ratify the agreement to denuclearize.

Her greed killed the man

If President Trump gets a treaty with North Korea ending the war and the Democrats vote it down, how does that help the Democrats?

Of course any agreement with North Korea should be submitted to Congress for ratification. Otherwise, any future president could alter it or discard it as he pleases - apparently that never occurred to Obama.

Neither did Kadafi.
