There will soon be more focus on flushes and scrutiny over showers with a new law signed in by the governor.
California is now the first state in the nation to enact tough new water-efficiency standards. The controversial rules limit how many gallons a person can use inside their home per day.
So that everyone in California is at least integrating efficiency into our preparations for climate change, said Felicia Marcus, Chair of the State Water Resources Control Board.
So, what are the new rules?
In 2022, the new indoor water standard will be 55 gallons per person, per day. by 2030, it will fall to 50 gallons.
With a child and every day having to wash clothes, thats, just my opinion, not feasible. But I get it and I understand that were trying to preserve but 55 gallons a day? said Tanya Allen, who has a 4-year-old daughter.
Just how many gallons do household chores take?
An 8-minute shower uses about 17 gallons of water, a load of laundry up to 40, and a bathtub can hold 80 to 100 gallons of water.
She likes to bathe three times a day and she does laundry all day, said Rocka Mitchell from Texas.
He and his wife Ginger are living in Sacramento for work and say it would be hard to conserve.
I couldnt do it. My family is way too large, she said.
Retrofitting homes with water-efficient fixtures could help cut back.

“You shampoo your head immediately and then wash the body with a bar of soap. All off in less than 5 minutes.”
Because it's a scientific fact that once you flush a toilet, that water is gone forever.
Millions of clogged toilets in CaCas future. Invest in RotoRooter now.
Poop on the sidewalk to help save the environment. And, its legal too.
People will convert to dry toilets. 21st century version of what we called an outhouse back on the farm....
Sounds prudent.
It appears places with nice weather year-round tend to elect politicians with only the most scant view of reality possible.
I’m sure the elite in politics and in Hollywood will abide by this.
But, these restrictions cannot apply to illegal citizens. That would be racist!
Follow Kramer's idea, stack your dirty dishes in the shower with you......
The masses will join the aroma of the homeless, no?
it did say INSIDE the home. Well it is California, the weather is nice most of the year. I would install an outdoor shower, shitter and kitchen - problem solved
Oh, there will be plenty enough for millenials to take a long shower. Just not enough to wash 10 loads of laundry and water the tomato plants.
Two of us in the household and we don’t waste a lot of water - still use about 65 gallons each per day in an average month...
My favorite shower heads came with instructions on how to pop out the flow restrictor "where permitted".
I think the EPA got wise and required the flow restrictors to be unremovable now. Unfortunately, the little passages in the shower head clog up over time if you live in an area with hard water, so old shower heads won't last forever. (Fortunately, I managed to snag a case of the old shower heads on ebay.)
3/5 of the planet is covered with water. Too much water is more of a problem than too little. An average of 3,536 people drown in non-boating related accidents in the US each year. Too little water isn't a problem unless you decide to live in a city built in the middle of a desert.
Will they cut off the water once the resident reaches their monthly ration?
So "Sunny California" becomes "Smelly California"!
Theres a state gun range I go to that has Clivus Multrum composting toilets. No thanks.
They were a big thing with Greenie ecologist / back to nature types 35-40 years ago.
When we see the elites lawns turning brown we’ll know there is a crisis.
Late night is different now ... and not in a good way. The Great Karnak bit was a classic.
Simple solutions to many problems are found in a Seinfeld episode somewhere.
“Don’t worry scrote! There are plenty of ‘tards out there living really kick a** lives. My first wife was ‘tarded. She’s a pilot now.”
Dead lawns, dirty clothes and smelly bodies. It didn’t take long to destroy paradise, did it?
LOL
Kramer: ‘ need a garbage disposal in my bath tub...made this whole meal in there’.
