President Barack Obama was veritably shell-shocked in the wake of Donald Trump's election victory in 2016, and even asked aides “What if we were wrong?” as he struggled to come to terms with Hillary Clinton's defeat, former adviser Ben Rhodes writes in a new memoir coming out in June.
The book, titled "The World As It Is," highlights efforts by Obama's brain trust to reassure him that he would have won re-election if he were allowed to run for a third term.
But Obama remained alternately optimistic and dejected, according to Rhodes, who has been feted as an aspiring novelist-turned national security wunderkind.
“Sometimes I wonder whether I was 10 or 20 years too early,” Obama told aides, according to the memoir. “Maybe we pushed too far. ... Maybe people just want to fall back into their tribe.”

The thing I noticed most is that Rhodes says that he and 0bama didn’t know about the FBI spying on the Trump campaign until AFTER the election. He’s just mounting a defense of 0bama, trying to make the spying look like a rogue operation, at the same time essentially admitting that they knew about the spying, after the election, but did nothing about that.
Both 0bama and Rhodes should be brought to testify under oath before congress.
Does anyone really think that anyone in congress has the balls to have 0bama and one of his top henchman testify under oath?
As Sen. Tom Cotton once remarked, “Ben Rhodes is what happens when you put van drivers and campaign flacks and failed novelists in charge of foreign policy and national security.”
I would never waste the dime or the time to sully my eyes with such outright garbage. Reading a feed catalog would be more interesting.
Well what did they expect? This is the natural result of the Identity Politics they have been pushing for decades now. Trump is the RESULT of their attitudes and policies.
I would enjoy seeing an hours-long video of Obama, his large awkward wife, and their team watching the 2016 election-night returns. Not nearly as much as I would enjoy watching the same of Hillary, but it would be good.
Actually Ben Rhodes is what you get when elected representatives don’t walk the talk. Think John Mcinsain, Linda Graham, Arlen Specter, Jeff Flake, Bob Corker, Susan Collins,Jeff Sessions, and Orrin Hatch.
