My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Matthew 27:46
The loud, sorrowful cry pierced the dark afternoon air. I imagine it drowning out the sound of mourning from friends and loved ones gathered at Jesuss feet. It must have overwhelmed the moans of the dying criminals who flanked Jesus on both sides. And surely startled all who heard it.
Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani? Jesus cried out in agony and in utter despondency as He hung on that cross of shame on Golgotha (Matthew 27:4546).
My God, He said, my God, why have you forsaken me?
I cannot think of more heart-wrenching words. Since eternity, Jesus had been in perfect fellowship with God the Father. Together they had created the universe, had fashioned mankind in their image, and planned salvation. Never in the eons past had they not been in total fellowship with each other.
And now, as the anguish of the cross continued to bring devastating pain on JesusHe for the first time lost the awareness of Gods presence as He carried the burden of the sins of the world.
It was the only way. Only through this time of interrupted fellowship could our salvation be provided for. And it was only because Jesus was willing to experience this sense of being forsaken on the cross that we humans can gain fellowship with God.
Thank You, Jesus, for experiencing such pain so we could be forgiven.
The cross reveals Gods heart for the lost.

It has been warm around here finally so there is no ice to practice on. I never wanted to be a climber anyway.
I hope they don’t run short of people to train to save us

FRiends, I started last weekend encouraging some of my fellow FReepers to make a Memorial Day resolution of sorts to begin making weekly calls to their US legislators. Over the years, with 2 sons-in-law in the military the VA has probably been my most called about topic. It remains a topic that we need to stress. As soon as I posted a thread asking people to strart calling a vet commented from the VA hospital in Little Rock asking us to please remember them.
To be honest, my list of reasons to call had left out vets. Even with all my calls stemming from my sons-in-law over the years. This week I made up for that on my DC calls. But we can mention more than one topic to Senators and Representatives.
I’m respectfully crashing into your thread asking that you regulars give it some prayerful thought. IMO, President Trump needs help draining the swamp. Congress and the courts are the clog. One thing I’m asking in my calls is for Congress to fast track approval of the 140ish judicial approvals. I’m also asking that they push to finish this Mueller investigation.
Forgive me for making such a long comment on your regular thread. If anyone needs help in getting phone numbers for your legislators or topics to address please PM me. God Bless you all.

We get that kind of ice every winter and it does NOT interest me at all. That’s an awful lot of work and concentration to keep from falling, let alone climbing.

Lets remember those Vietnam vets who are still dying from agent orange exposure. 27 posted on 5/28/2018, 6:17:39 PM by Terry Mross (On some threads it's best to go straight to the comments.)
Okay, my html skills are rusty and I don't recall how to make a link to a specific comment. I copy/pasted from my "call congress thread" so y'all can add this FRiend to your prayers. Some of you may know him. Hopefully he visits the Canteen! At any rate he needs us all for prayer. Thanks.

And my copy/paste skills seem to stink as bad as my html. The following is the comment I was trying to show y'all.
Please send some prayers up for my wife and me. Im in ICU at the Little Rock VA getting fluids drained so they can hopefully take me to the Cath Lab in the morning. Please pray for the doctors.
And by the way, Im 4 rooms down from where my good friend died three months ago...from agent orange exposure.

Hi mylife. I know you have dealt with the crap from that agency a lot too. My youngest s-i-l has been going thru hell from them for over 10 years also. It's like he's a zoo exhibit because he has a combination of 2 Iraqi diseases that everyone else just has one of the 2. He's the only soldier who came back with both. They really like studying him and have even written a paper about him but no one has found a way to make him better. And there are so many other vets getting the same sucky service. Anger building and the mainiac just texted he's on his way home so gotta get supper started.
