Political conversations have grown increasingly nasty in recent years, and it may be spawning something even worse: a growing number of people taking their vitriol to another level by threatening members of Congress.
In the past couple of months, the Justice Department announced action in four cases involving people who threatened serious harm, or even death, to federal lawmakers.
Most of those threats were made online, reflecting just one way people can convey their most vulgar feelings toward those on other sides of public policy disputes.
Most of the targets have been Republican lawmakers, who are in the crosshairs of anti-Trump forces who relish their stance as a self-styled #Resistance.

I share your suspicions but signed anyway, I feel sometimes you just have say what-the-heck to get in their face and that includes taking advantage of their own media tools.
The petition is now over 460,000 and rising every second. It is not “featured” (i.e. excluded?) but it comes out top if people simply browse for what is popular right now!

They support Amnesty International (which is supported by Soros) Note: I have mixed feelings about Amnesty International. Some good, but they are NOT unbiased. I’ve heard complaints from my Syrian Kurd friends about how they project things.
And it would not surprise me if change .org was Soros funded too.
This is a “for profit” group. although they don’t currently show to be making a profit.
I simply do not trust them. Should have known better. First instinct told me they were trouble.

Don’t worry about signing a petition from Change.org. It WAS started on Obama with the promise that any petition that got 100,000 signatures would get attention from the White House. But lots of petitions are put up by conservatives as well as liberals. I’ve signed several myself & have had no issues.
That change website — anybody can put a petition up there and circulate it online.
Whatever weird effects you were seeing probably don’t relate to that specific site.
