When I initially decided to take a Womens and Gender Studies class, I knew that the course readings would be liberal-leaning and overtly feminist. I did not know how open the professors and administrators would be about this 'leftward bias', however.
Right from the very beginning, Womens and Gender Studies was presented not just as an academic discipline, but as preparation for activism.
Our assigned readings for a class discussion on abortion were both written by pro-choice authors, and the professor made no attempt in class to provide an alternative perspective.
When I attended a portion of the programs 30th anniversary conference, every professor on the panel seemed to hold the same political and ideological beliefs. When one professor spoke about her initial difficulties in convincing her students that anti-capitalism was a tenet of feminism, her co-panelists and the professors in attendance nodded sympathetically. Not only did they accept that their job was to persuade students to change their beliefs about economic and political systems, but they appeared to be in full agreement about what exactly those beliefs should be.

I tell ya, Vocational Schools look better and better, in fact several cuts above, the nonsense Universities are presenting to young minds!
Think, "Easy A."
Lesser Oracle
As a refutation of their proposals, they'll hate a bullet in the head a whole lot more...
Many “modern” Jesuits are hardcore “liberation theology” Marxists and they found a great home in Georgetown Un, which was once a great hall of learning in their Foreign Service School (I think that’s the correct name and I believe Walsh was the head of it. I bought some of his history books when they were sold off decades ago).
The Law School has been infiltrated too (Rev. Robert Drinan, as crazy as Charles Manson and Prof. David Cole, a brilliant attorney and apparent protege’ of comrade William Kunstler), as has its African Studies program (it hired the leader of the DC-VA Communist Party, Maurice Jackson, as a professor despite or disregarding his background (which the Wash. Post conveniently left out when he was both in the CPUSA as well as writing the Platform of the D.C. Statehood Committee’s political platform).
How do I know about Jackson? I took a course he taught at the W.E. B. DuBois School of Marxist Studies. It was boring as crap.
Heard Cole speak. Heard Drinan promise a CPUSA legal front to support them anyway he could.
“Strange Days” are upon us and it shows up significantly in universities, even Catholic ones today (Perdue, Marquette and Notre Dame).
Gee, I feel lucky. I went to a university founded by a Baptist, former Union Army leader. It was called “Tel Aviv on the Delaware. And the only communist was an open one who taught English or something like that. Now the school and its Law School is filled with reds as professors, which would explain why Philadelphia is such a leftist craphole.
“Time to drain the universities”!
They should not be allowed to have that statue of Mary in a prominent place on campus. It just confuses the parents.
These arent schools.
The are Leftist reserves, ready and willing a moments notice to take to the streets
They seem from my perspective to be a modernized version of baracks for the Leftist troops.
Education? Why thats so last century, and the plan of evil White men.
AKA teaching about the overthrow of the US govt and getting paid for it.
Watch them suffer.
It would be complete Hell for them.
Those Studies programs are nothing more than political stunts
Besides being racist and sexist
Sometimes the good guys need to have eyes and ears in the enemy camp.
Amen. Kids are better off learning hard skills and knowledge than wasting their time in classes and fields that have been hijacked to left-wing activism.
I think conservatives need to know whats being taught. She took one for the team. Im sure she had to shower after many classes. Shes a great conservative according to her bio.
If you can be a plumber and simply work for yourself, youve got it made. Just charge ten percent below companies and you will work forever making 6 figures a year. No lie.
Laplace Transforms! love’em!
So when the women do poorly academically, don’t expect them to get the same marks as people who buckle down and study hard.
I would not call the author “insightful”. I question her discernment and accuse her of stunning naiveté. How could she be so ignorant of what goes on in Women’s Studies courses? This article is like an account from someone who visited Nazi Germany in the 1940s and was shocked to find out that the Nazis were indeed serious about the extermination of Jews.
I’m sure you didn’t mean for that to sound so arrogant, right?
Generally Womans Studies have focused on womens roles in ‘economic’ and ‘political’ institutions, and they also analyzed womens roles in history, literature and equality movements..additionally emphasizing cross-cultural perspectives and the socialization of women.....and we know that Feminist activism during the 60s and 70s encouraged the development of Women’s Studies.
Therefore many young female students today are going to naturally find this of interest in the world they will be going into. Which is not naivete as you stated rather an interest to enlarge ones understanding of what women face.
Gender studies on the other hand pointed to the relationship between both men and women, and also their relationships with society as a whole. Unfortunately several colleges now piggyback the mechanisms of gender and sexuality and how they operate in society of ‘all’ those in this twisted generation.
The author...if you check the thread relating to her...would explain to you further.
I truly believe you.. any person working for themselves is way above anyone working for another company... ALWAYS!
Yes..no doubt he saw the focus was on activism..some say it’s anti-men.
