AN international team of investigators has determined that the missile which blew Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 out of the sky nearly four years ago came from a Russia-based military unit.
International representatives, including Australian Federal Police, today gathered in the Netherlands to announce they had found convincing evidence that MH17 was shot down by a Buk-TELAR missile from Russia.
Wilbert Paulissen of the Dutch National Police said that detailed analysis of video images showed the missile was from the Russian militarys 53rd anti-aircraft missile brigade based in the Russian city of Kursk.
The top Dutch investigator said the international Joint Investigation Team has come to the conclusion that the BUK-TELAR that shot down MH17 came from 53rd Anti-aircraft Missile Brigade based in Kursk in Russia.
The 53rd Brigade forms part of the Russian armed forces, he said.

This has been suggested for a long time.
Time for Trump to have this pushed to the UN for sanctions. If anyone can milk the best PR out of this, it is Trump.
The MH17 investigation will receive $50.3 million over the next four years, as allocated in the 2018 federal budget.

Ivan, when will you learn?
There was a theory that Ukraine forces with Russian equipment did it. Some say they were friendly forces to Russia even embedded Russians. Russia said that it was the unfriendly government. But this says it was Russian forces doing it from Russia. That makes Russia out to be both stupid and lairs. We were sure about the latter. But we were told they were so clever in how they were taking over Ukraine.
Who told the pilots to fly over a war zone?
The Russkies originally claimed that they had proof it was Ukrainian ground attack planes that took out MH17, even though it was literally impossible from a technical viewpoint.
They are not stupid. They’re just brazen. They had drunks running the Buk launchers who were likely shooting at everything. (Then again, the system is very sophisticated and requires training to operate, so it might have been Russian soldiers, but this doesn’t take away the possibility that they were raving drunks.) This being embarrassing, they covered it up with stupid stories.
That said, the Europeans only care at this point because they want to keep Ivan in the news to attack Trump. Same thing with that alleged poisoning, which to me genuinely feels like it could have been the UK itself which attempted the assassination-—again, just to keep Ivan in the news.
They get “overflight fees” so they don’t close the airways and they report that the airways are safe to use...
They even have some officer they want to talk to or arrest....
It says the Buk that was used to shoot down the aircraft was from a unit that was based in Kursk, Russia. It didn't say the shot came from Russia, nor did it say Russian troops fired the missile.
The Buk missile was fired by pro-Russian rebels in the town of Pervomaisky, which is in the Ukraine, just west of the Russian border.
Russia certainly played a role in giving the Buk to the rebels, but it wasn't fired by Russian troops or from within Russia according to the investigations that have occurred since.
Do not take this as support for Putin/Russia. It is not. It is simply repeating what the investigations to date have stated.

Very doubtful.
The folks in the area with BUK systems and the training in how to use them were Ukrainian military units.
Actually the Buk was traced by the numbers on it to belong to Russias 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade.
You need to convince the international investigators, who investigated this for years, that they are blaming the wrong people for murdering their citizens.
Good luck with that.
Never fly over a country Russia is invading.
Traced...like with a pencil and paper?
Show me the Keyhole satellite images, not some edited social media conjecture.
Moscow has rejected any involvement in the crash of flight MH17 in Ukraine after the Netherlands and Australia declared Russia responsible for the deployment of a BUK missile system that downed the jet in 2014.
Moscow neither accepts nor trusts the results of an international investigation into the MH17 crash as it was not allowed to take part in it, according to the Russian presidents spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
The U.S. is affirming new findings from investigators linking the 2014 downing of a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane to the Russian military. The State Department said Thursday that it has "complete confidence" in the Dutch-led probe that determined Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 had been shot down using a missile launcher from a Russian anti-aircraft brigade.

“I remind that all data presented in the briefing of the investigation team had two main sources the Internet and the Ukrainian special services,” Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said, according to USA Today.
