Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore has scheduled a press conference for Thursday in Gadsden at which he said he will announce the filing of a new lawsuit.
The press release announcing the upcoming lawsuit said the new lawsuit will be brought "against different defendants regarding false allegations made against him during the special election for U.S. Senate."
The announcement gave no other details about the lawsuit.
Moore previously called a press conference April 30 to announce the filing of a political conspiracy lawsuit against five defendants related to allegations made against Moore a month before election day in last year's U.S. Senate special election.
The defendants include three women who have made accusations against Moore: Leigh Corfman, Beverly Young Nelson and Tina Johnson. A fourth woman, Deborah Wesson Gibson, said she briefly dated Moore as a teen when he was in his 30s. The fifth defendant, Richard Hagedorn, is friends with some of the other defendants, according to Moore's lawsuit.
That lawsuit was filed in Etowah County circuit and all six judges in that district recused themselves from the case. The lawsuit has been assigned to retired Russell County Circuit Judge Albert L. Johnson Sr.
Moore is also a defendant in a lawsuit brought by Leigh Corfman, who raised the most serious accusations against Moore during the campaign. Moore has filed a counter lawsuit against Corfman in that case in Montgomery County.
Ill be ridin and shootin My way to the courthouse!
I hope he give more time and attention to this lawsuit than he did his election campaign.
He is a colossal idiot and an embarrassment. The weekend before the election, he was out of town attending a Notre Dame game. The pain is temporary, but in the long run, hopefully, Alabama will vote in a quality candidate.
... which probably made little difference to the election outcome. The damage had been done. Moore wasn't known as much of a public speaker anyway. What Moore had was his solid reputation of being moralistic and taking actions to defend the 10 commandments. He was a one trick pony and all that got tarnished by the allegations. No one knew if they were true or not but the fact he dated teenagers as a 30 year old added the creep factor.
Before the election I did not see anyone admitting they were voting for him as he had become somewhat of an embarrassment. He was attacked on the one thing that was his strength. If all of it was a planned scam against Moore they sure executed their plan well.
Yep, a nutter!
Roy Moore needs to find a hole and crawl into it.
“... which probably made little difference to the election outcome.”
Zhang, it made almost no difference in this case. Moore’s strength was built on name recognition and his moralistic reputation and certainly not campaign rallies since he was a lousy speaker anyway. An example of that was his pathetic Hannity interview. That killed him right there and it was long before the election.
Was this announcement coupled with a request to send money? That is usually
how Roy works.
“Moores strength was built on name recognition and his moralistic reputation and certainly not campaign rallies since he was a lousy speaker anyway. An example of that was his pathetic Hannity interview. That killed him right there and it was long before the election.”
Oh Jesus, can this retard just go away already?
Good for him.
It seems like all of Moore's critics focus on that football game, as if the months and months of coverage of the race hadn't allowed people to make up their minds, and that only a few more days of campaigning would have gotten him three or four more votes or something.
Do you seriously think it was his attendance of that football game that cost him the election? You don't think the lying accusations and the deliberate backstabbing by Republican "allies" had something to do with it?
The media/Washington DC attack machine took him out because he was a reformer. Among the ranks of Democrats, it's easy to find sleazy lunatic kooks to make up accusations against someone.
Why? Nothing has been proven. The Women are not credible, and Moore has nothing of which to be ashamed. The people who should be ashamed are the bastards on our side that stabbed him in the back.
You have got to be kidding me. Moore's problem was the collusion of a massive media weapon and 2 liberal kook women making unprovable accusations from 38 years ago, while Republican officials stabbed him in the back.
His loss has nothing to do with his campaign. It was entirely the consequence of those lying accusations and the deliberate Republican backstabbing.
Moore was a lousy speaker and a lousy candidate. Period. He could have held rally after rally and it would not have made much of a difference in this case because his one great strength — his reputation — had been tarnished.
Interesting that you would call him a reformer. Actually he was a relic and a dinosaur which in today’s warped leftist world makes him a reformer. Love it.
I think using a down home approach by taking his trailer and loading up two horses
and him and his wife hit the small towns across the state. Pull up to a parking
lot, get the horses out and ride thru the main street of the town saying hello to
all, waving and acting neighborly. Let the locals see him and his wife up close
and have a word or two with them. It doesn't have to be speeches, just conversation.
