President Donald Trump has canceled his historic summit in Singapore with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un next month.
The meeting, which would have marked the first face-to-face encounter between a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean leader, was set for June 12 in the southeastern Asian island city state.
"Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting," Trump wrote in a letter to Kim, which was released Thursday morning.

Beautifully-written letter.
Kim is in the midst of a power struggle with his top generals over this denucluarization matter. What general is willing to give up one of his biggest toys?
I think Kim, who was raised and educated in the west, understands the prosperity that his people can enjoy when open and free trade is established between the Hermit Kingdom and the rest of the world.
I think Kim sees the China model, where they have struck an uneasy balance between economic capitalism and social totalitarianism. He wants to repeat that model for NK, keeping him and his family in power, but providing opportunities to his people.
It will be telling if there are any sudden ‘retirements’ of some NK generals in the near future.
yup
No sweat. If I see dupes "soon enough," I try to post a link from the newer one to the older (more comments) one for people who see the newer one first, and might otherwise miss the older one.
Not bustin' yer chops or advocating thread deletion, just trying to give lurker and reareds a better chance of seeing all the remarks.
This headline is news.
What I am seeing on TV is NOT!
I've had it with CBS and the local Sacramento CA affiliate (KOVR) is NOT!
I am hearing commentary... opinions, what our president may be thinking and What he should be thinking or doing.
There are laws against that, and I, for one, will need to find a different network for actual news.
GHEEEZE!
Can anyone help me find a news TV network actually providing, AS FAR AS GEOPOLITICS AND OUR PRESIDENT PUBLICLY SAY AND DOES NEWS AND NOTHING ELSE??
Enemies domestic at work...
KMA lil Kim...
You have a choice between two models, in which you can be the leader:
Lybia or East Germany
Choose wisely...
It takes Kim a long time to learn. Trump isn’t Hussein. Or Mr. Bill. or Bush. Or Bush.
If you aren’t willing to walk away, you aren’t negotiating.
NK military has been keeping him alive, they know his every move. Deep state there just like here does not like threats to its power.
Fox news Brian Kilmede had an impromptu interview this morning with President Trump wherein the President provided very direct and extended answers to questions. The presentation was real, unfiltered and unbiased.
Brett Bair scooped Fox and Friends last evening by airing portions of the interview ahead of time
If you insist on total purist conservative propaganda, you are not going to find it on TV
Not like the bad old days of weak democrat presidents.
When deals fell apart for them they sent the Secretary Of State (like Madelein Albright and John Kerry) back to the negotiating table
with their knee pads on to see if they could give away enough money and make enough concessions to bring home a bad deal.
I figured from the start there would be several cancellations before it takes place.
I still say we’re seeing some Kabuki Theater here.
I couldn’t possibly care less about the nobel ‘peace’ prize, since it’s been tainted, especially since Obama.
President Trump’s response is perfect under the circumstances. He really is a mastermind dealmaker.
Now, the lil fat rocket boy will be spanked by his daddy Xi. We will see what happens.
Balls in your court, Kim.
...
And maximum pressure is still being applied.
Kim is likely quite scared for himself in the turbulence that must be going on amongst the leadership in NK. It is probably a valid concern on his part. We also know that China has the most influence on the Norks and they have their own interests in play here. Trump has a lot of options and I think he has a good team in place to help him navigate the negotiation and make no mistake..... this is still a negotiation.
It will be telling if there are any sudden retirements of some NK generals in the near future.
***************************************
When I see him in the midst of some of his top generals, they look to be in their eighties.
Perfect a “Dear Jong” letter
But will they get their room deposit back?
There’s a new Sheriff in town!
Very well stated
I would add that the old men are the problem obstructing the youth that want more, that want better, that want light at night
