The complexity of the case warrants excluding the speedy trial law and delaying the trial, Mueller argued in Tuesdays court filing.
....
Former federal prosecutor and National Review Contributing Editor Andrew C. McCarthy told TheDCNF it was too late for Mueller to claim that the complexity of the case warranted a delay.
Speedy trial rights belong to the defendant, and if the defendant pushes for a trial within the 70 days, the government has little cause to complain, McCarthy said. If the case was too complex, the government had the option of holding off on seeking an indictment until it was ready to proceed to trial. When a prosecutor files an indictment, it is tantamount to saying, We are ready to go.'

One thing about Russians, they actually do have a wonderful sense of humor sometimes. Stewed to perfection by decades of Soviet dictatorship.
Mueller didn’t have a CLUE they would show up for the hearing. Somewhere, they were laughing, waiting for the shocked faces and discombobulated response.
The Friday, after every Thanksgiving.
Speedy trial option is for defendants not prosecutors.

‘THEY’ thought Hillary was a sure bet, and ‘THEY’ thought it a sure bet the Russians wouldn’t respond to these charges.
‘THEY’ have so damned much poop on their faces, because ‘THEY’ had the audacity to think.
Pay attention America. ‘THEY’ aren’t the ones we’ve been waiting for.
Slightly off-topic - what happened to the thing the judge told Mueller and Coup Inc. they had to come up with in two weeks?
Isn’t the two weeks about up?
I read that they delivered some version of the scope memo. Possibly redacted. I would guess that the judge is reading it and evaluating.
Firing squads solve that issue.
Help me here. The mule indicts a Russian company. Russian requests discovery. Mule request delay of trial because the 2TB of data is in Russian. Ok Mule, you filed an indictment based upon some 2TB of information you do not understand? Am I missing something or is Mule in trouble?
Seriously, Mueller looks like death warmed over. He looks frail, haggard and in poor health from smoking.
Muleface did not expect Russia to retaliate. He was expecting to milk the 13 indictments of Russians as proof he was being productive. It has back fired.
Mueller (or his minion) says the 6th Amendment does not apply. If I were the judge I would consider that, plus the fact that they indicted without being ready, an insult.
“Mueller has been out-lawyered by the Russians and can’t do anything to stop it. Just like a grade school child who didn’t do his homework.”
I think your assessment is absolutely correct. Team-Mueller was not anticipating any aggressive nature and folks would just come around to negotiate some ‘deal’. I think after all the business with Flynn came out....lawyers now think they can beat Team-Mueller in court.
In this case, the judge might react and do one of two things....first, he might force Team-Mueller to proceed in court, fail miserably, and ‘not guilty’ is the ending. Second, he could terminate the case with prejudice and make them look bad. I don’t believe that delaying this for six months will occur. Maybe as a joke, he might agree to delay three days, just to make the Team-Mueller folks squirm.
“Muleface did not expect Russia to retaliate. He was expecting to milk the 13 indictments of Russians as proof he was being productive. It has back fired.”
Yeah, I get that, but if he needs time to process the 2TB of data to fulfill discovery it also implies that mule has no idea what is in that data and has no basis for the indictment.
their professors are legal failures. if you can’t do teach.
One player said tonight, we have only heard of 2% of the corruption so far.
We are both running on parallel tracks here.
You’re right in that Muleface never had a valid basis for 13 indictments.
And what I said is congruent in that Muleface was looking to hungry democrats results after almost a year of investigation. He figured since the 13 indicted Russians were not going to prison, they would ignore the indictments completely.
17 Indictments sounds lot better than 4 indictments from Muleface’s vantage point.
I hope to shout!
This entire indictment was a PR stunt. They unexpectedly are now forced into a trial by their own actions. Mueller and his team are idiots. Dangerous idiots.
