EATTLE -- People who own a home in King County are paying about 17% more in property taxes this year than last year to help pay for the states funding of public education.
But come November, Seattle leaders will be asking voters to approve a bit more of an increase for city dwellers.
City Council members say while the state funding property tax hike pays for basic education, the levy they want to be renewed will be an extra investment to ensure that kids from preschool to high school will have what it takes to succeed.

Keep it up. In a few years you can be Chicago. The only people that don’t want to move out of Chicago are the ones that got shot last weekend.
the levy they want to be renewed will be an extra investment to ensure that kids from preschool to high school will have what it takes to succeed.
Well if that’s what it’s for how could anyone possibly not “want” to support it? Can’t wait to see what’s on the menu next week, you know the commies always cooking up one plot or another to get more of your money.
I saw the headline and I told myself, “That’s old news,” but it isn’t, is it? They’re at it again after only one week.
The entire west coast is just making itself unaffordable. I left a decade ago, and while I miss the ocean and mountains, the hiking and camping, hunting and fishing... the overall cost of living was just a burden. And then downtown Seattle was just Freak central.
Seattle? New taxes? Oh I can’t believe that.
Snicker...
Theres that word again - investment!
I dont think that word means what you think it means.
I am really in favor of them raising property taxes. Besides, it’s not really a rise, its an “enhancement.” And, it’s only $5 per week. Gosh, so they can mismanage even more money. How could anybody object?! Don’t the property owners WANT to give more free stuff to people who didn’t earn it?
By the way, Seattle residents, no income taxes in Florida and comparatively low other taxes. Bring your money and your business here.
“Its making it impossible for the middle class to live in Seattle. If we keep going down this road nobody will be able to live in Seattle except for the very rich and the homeless, Dubin said.”
Pick any RAT-run city, and you will find the same thing happening. Unfortunately for the Marxists running the show, the people who will be bearing this burden, will be the one’s packing their bags for somewhere else. And that will be the “very rich” left to support the homeless. It will take time, because the “old timer middle class folks” will probably not leave, but they will die off. Seattle is slated to become Mexico City Northwest, with Chinese and Indian “enclaves!”And just think of the impact on Paul Allen’s Mariners. He will have to offer free admission to his games or the stadium will be pretty much empty. Isn’t this diversity $hit great or what!
I think they should raise the taxes 25% just to be sure (s)
All property tax is theft.
This is why I left Portland.
Constant property tax increases, paying for things I never used or wanted.
From the article:
In 2014, Seattle voters approved a $58 million levy allowing low-income kids to go to preschool for free.
Since 2015, the city says the program has allowed affordable or free preschool to 850 families.
3 school years.. that’s $22,745 per child per year for freaking preschool. And now they want more...

Carefull now GB. Just remember what Congressman Hank Johnson has told Congress about Guam being at risk of tipping over with more people. After all Florida is just Guam with a tenuous connection to the mainland US. But then again, if that happens, half your population can swim back to Cuba, Puerto Rico or Haiti! Don’t know what the Capo retirees will do? Maybe they would make a run for Georgia in their “luxury German cars!”
That's a very nebulous, vague statement and most likely a bald-faced lie.
" to ensure that kids from preschool to high school will have what it takes to succeed"
These lib-run public schools don't ensure success of kids, quite the contrary despite ever-larger sums of taxpayer money fleeced from the public. Much more can be done with far less money, if schools were properly run and the focus was on training kids correctly. There are far more successful schools being run in conservative fly-over country at a fraction of the cost of Seattle schools. It's not about money regarding future success.
How in the wind blown hells are the taxpayers to judge whether them shelling out more taxes will actually gauge if these chillrens are getting what it takes to succeed ? Success to these liberal fools is just giving money to those too unfortunately stupid or lazy to succeed so they can claim success. After they run out of working taxpayers to pay these liberal fairytales, these guys better find a good hiding place.
It’s for the chillun.
” extra investment to ensure that kids from preschool to high school will have what it takes to succeed”
Translation : full assimilation into Marxist Droids “but it’s for the Kiddies”
I'm worried about the word "ensure."

You’re missing the main point...if all the Seattle home owners go Florida...they will bring their voting habits with them. Who do you think voted in the idiots running their city government? The same homeowners you now want in Florida.
