Pence: North Korea will 'end like the Libyan model' if Kim does not cooperate

Vice President Pence warned in an interview on Monday that talks between the U.S. and North Korea could end like Libya's denuclearization process if Kim Jong Un does not cooperate.
"You know, there was some talk of the Libyan model last week. And as the president made clear, this will only end like the Libyan model ended if Kim Jong Un doesn't make a deal," Pence told Martha MacCallum on Fox News.
"It would be a great mistake for Kim Jong Un to think he could play Donald Trump," Pence said, adding that there is no question Trump would be willing to walk away from the talks if they prove unproductive.
"But we hope for better. We really hope that Kim Jong Un will seize the opportunity to dismantle his nuclear weapons program, and do so by peaceable means," he said.
Pence's remarks come after national security adviser John Bolton said on Sunday that the U.S. was looking at using the Libya model as a way of getting Pyongyang to surrender its nuclear weapons.

I would like our chances of better if Pence and Bolton weren’t talking down to the North Koreans. They’re basically saying we’re going to take you out if you don’t comply.

In this case, it doesn’t apply, since most of the NK “citizens” haven’t a clue about what their government is doing. And FWIW, I don’t think the work “cooperation” is operative here. Kim needs to know this is his last chance to be able to run his country, because Trump will push the button on him if he doesn’t do what we tell him to.

The Trump team seemed to be making good progress on NK until recently. They need to give NK a way to save face so they see it as a win to give up their nukes. NK is not threatening us much lately so I don't quite get this neo-macho move of late.
I also don't see why the Trump admin would want to remind the world of the crap Obama and Clinton pulled in Libya.
There are probably better examples out there. Kadaffy called up Bush and turned over his WMD program enmass with no conditions.
Well, we gave up the war games with SoKo—I think that was to help Un Save face. I think we’re playing this about right.
Also, I watched the interview. I think the author is mis-characterizing Pence’s tone.
Agree we shouldn’t talk down to them, but that doesn’t mean we should cave like all of Trump’s recent predecessors did.
What a stupid position Bolton unleashed. Why did he ever open his stupid walrus mouth? Pompeo was handling things fine. Hillary and Obama MURDERED Gadaffi and unleashed the migrant catastrophe. That’s nothing to be proud of or even refer to without blistering criticism.

The “Libyan model” did not include a large standing army with armor, artillery and sophisticated electronics systems. I don’t think pence is helping things with this rhetoric. He should be rehearsing for mcqueeg’s funeral.....

Trump deals on a different plane. The rest of the world... bewildered, and that is a good thing.
I never trusted Bolton. For the life of me, I never understood why Trump would name a National Security Advisor who would have been a perfect fit for a Jeb Bush cabinet post.
