Pope's reported comment to a gay man may indicate a new level of acceptance of homosexuality
LA Times ^ | 21 May 2018 | By TOM KINGTON

Pope Francis has reportedly told a gay man that "God made you that way and loves you as you are," apparently pushing the pontiff's acceptance of homosexuality to a new level.

Francis made the comments to Juan Carlos Cruz, a Chilean victim of priestly sexual abuse who recently spent days with the pope at the Vatican to discuss his ordeal as the pontiff moves to tackle decades of coverups and ostracism of victims in the Chilean church, according to the Spanish newspaper El Pais.

Cruz was quoted as having discussed his homosexuality with Francis. "He told me: 'Juan Carlos, I don't care about you being gay. God made you that way and loves you as you are and I don't mind. The pope loves you as you are, you have to be happy with who you are.' "

A spokesman at the Vatican on Sunday declined to confirm or deny Francis' comments, stating, "We don't normally comment on the pope's private conversations."

In 2013, Francis famously said, "If someone is gay and seeks the Lord with goodwill, who am I to judge?" when asked for his views on homosexuality, signaling a sea change in Catholic views on sexual orientation.

That year he also told an interviewer, "A person once asked me, in a provocative manner, if I approved of homosexuality," adding, "I replied with another question: 'Tell me: When God looks at a gay person, does he endorse the existence of this person with love, or reject and condemn this person?' "

His reported remarks based on Cruz's account go further, however, by suggesting he believes people are created gay by God — a position likely to anger Catholic conservatives.

No worries. They have a long and mixed history.

Unfortunately, they do not teach the Gospel of Grace.

This Pope is heart-wrenching for so many. But I guarantee you not every Priest, not every Bishop, not every lay Catholic goes along with it!

Can anyone imagine how the Lord must weep at what has become of the Church He entrusted to Peter as the first Pope?

I don’t pretend to know what’s really going on, but it seems to me the wheat is being separated from the chaff; maybe to prepare for the ‘final battle’.

"Jesuits are a secret society which originated in Argentina. They are basically satanists whose goal is to infiltrate the church."

Wrong on all counts.

The Jesuits are the "Society of Jesus" founded in the 16th century by St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Peter Faber (the first two were Basques, and Faber a Frenchman): all of them every good followers of Jesus, outstanding missionaries, all canonized saints.

They are famed for forming a corps of educated elite within the Church, and in my view an intellectual elitism has led more than a few astray. Some (I think it's fair to say many, but not most) Jesuits of the 20th - 21st century went off the rails of sound doctrine. Nevertheless, there are some very sound Jesuits out there still: Fr. Joseph Fessio at Ignatius Press, Fr. Vince Pacwa at EWTN, the late Cardinal Dulles and s few others, good solid Catholic men.

Then there are others (including Pope Francis) who are --- not so much.

"Are you a good Jesuit . . . or the other kind?"

“Juan Carlos Cruz, a Chilean victim of priestly sexual abuse”

But this has no connection to him now being homosexual, right?

Genuine Catholics do not "enjoy" the cult of homosexuality.

Sodomy is an act of grave moral depravity, but those who are tempted this way are called to a life of chastity and holiness --- as the Catechism says, in accordance with God and all the Scriptures.

He should have never ascended to his position.
Benedict was pushed out!! Popes don’t just decide to leave the Papacy cause they don’t feel well! He was purged!
This guy, whoever he is, doesn’t seem Catholic, and appears to be heretical!

Should never have been elected in the first place. He didn’t suddenly have these beliefs after he put on that pointy hat.

The catholic church was started by a pagan mixing in Christianity. It was doomed from the get go.

dear FRiend
we as humans are all hypocrites and given to evil. Therefore all man made institutions are hypocritical but that is no reason to reject the one true GOD, the GOD of Abraham Isaac and Jacob (Israel). His word is perfect and by developing a relationship with Him through his son born in a manger is the only way to salvation. Any person on earth will let u down but not HIM. i happen to be a southern baptist and believe the Bible is the perfect infallible Word, however even amongst self proclaimed southern baptist churches half will not have a baptism this year. denominations are cover for different interpretations is all, there truly is onlu one church, and it is those that follow the word from Genesis to Revelation.

This, like many of this pope’s statements, is extra-Biblical.

With regard to sexual sin, Jesus said, “Go and sin no more.”

The pope, Vatican and it’s global governing hierarchy fully condone pedophilia.
They are officially on the record refusing the legal and moral responsibility to report pedophilia within the church in order to first and foremote protect children.
Doesn’t every catholic know this by now?

"Behavior is conditioned. It’s not “Who you are”, no matter how strongly some people have conditioned themselves to accept a particular behavior. Delusions are mental, not physical."

So, schizophrenia, autism, psychosis, dementia are not physical brain malfunctions, but due to external conditions or personal choice? Granted psychology is not an exact science like chemistry, but it's pretty much proven the aforementioned mental problems are due to bad brain wiring - think wrong firing synapses.

That said, I agree that most problems with anti-social types are by choice due to bad external conditions. Or some are just bad seeds from birth. I'm in no way making excuses for them and want them taken out of a peaceful society. I would also include the mellennials due to their brain-washing by agenda-driven teachers. Behavioral "scientists" have long believed that constant indoctrination can re-wire the thought process. The Stockholm Syndrome is the classical example.

God makes us all... that doesn’t mean he agrees with the decisions or actions we take.

You can love and care for a sinner without believing the sin is acceptable....

If any church rejected all sinners, you’d be left with an empty building.

God made us all, he loves us all, that doesn’t mean he agrees with every action that our free will allows us....

This Pope is out there at times... and there is no doubt the Catholic Church as a whole has been infiltrated in some sectors by huge numbers of homosexuals... and they are sadly destroying the church from within.... the belief that the Church is not accepting of those who sin (no matter the sin) is silly.

There are very very few offenses that can result in excommunication of an individual, and many of the few that exist are exclusive to the Eastern Orthodoxy and not main line Roman Catholic Church.

Rogue pope?

He was chosen by the College of cardinals and the smoke indicated that he was ‘gods’ choice.

I’m so glad I follow the Bible and God’s unwavering word, versus the ‘traditions’ and utterances of pointy hatted fool that many Catholics blindly cling to. And before Catholics slam me, if you aren’t denouncing this and other abominations in your church, than you are part of the problem. If you are standing up for God’s word against this, may your voice be heard and heeded.
