When the shooter left the room briefly, Abel and others left the closet and tried to barricade the door. But the shooter pushed it open, spotted a student he knew, and with anger said, "Surprise!" before shooting the student in the chest.
"I'm still trying to process everything," Abel said in an interview.
One of Pagourtzis' classmates who died in the attack, Shana Fisher, "had 4 months of problems from this boy," her mother, Sadie Rodriguez, wrote in a private message to the Los Angeles Times on Facebook. "He kept making advances on her and she repeatedly told him no."
Pagourtzis continued to get more aggressive, and she finally stood up to him and embarrassed him in class, Rodriguez said. "A week later he opens fire on everyone he didn't like," she wrote. "Shana being the first one." Rodriguez didn't say how she knew her daughter was the first victim.

Raging insanity out there with lust leading to murder.
The sexually obsessed can end up killing themselves and or others.
God help folks out there to find some sanity in the midst of the insanity around them like this.
I was once told “you can’t reason with insanity”.
I guess that’s where Smith and Wesson, Glock, etc. etc. come into the picture when the insane people resort to violence.
A society that embraces hedonistic debauchery spawns lunatics with no moral compass. Therapy and gun control will not stop these deranged maniacs. Instead it is necessary to arm and train personnel and have tactical planning to deal with these lunatics. Also when these lunatics start shooting , the response must be definitive. They should not be allowed to surrender. This Texas murderer is likely to be released from prison before he is forty five under current law.
NOT everybody gets a trophy like when the younger kids all get trophies. Hard to deal with loss or rejection if you never experience it.
another incel?
Look at Hillary, for example.
Y’all can see where this is going, can’t you?
“We have to stop the white man’s ‘Toxic Masculinity’, and make feminists out of their boys”.
So this obviously well-raised young lady was pressured by this smelly nut for 4 months*, and when she finally (rightfully) goes off on him, he kills her a few days later.
Friggin’ incels!
*If she wasn’t well-raised, she would have gone off on him much sooner. :-)
We must return to institutionalizing the psychotic among us, including psychotic juveniles. They do not have to be madhouses as in the 19th century, but society must separate such people from itself if it ever wants to continue in relative freedom.
” ... private message to the Los Angeles Times on Facebook.”
Yeah, nothing is more private than a FB message to the LA Times.
I saw this earlier and wondered how a parent could immediately turn to FB when her child is killed. I’d assume fetal position and stay there for a few decades. Last thing I would think of is hitting Facebook. But, mercifully, I’ve never been and hope never to be, in that position, so I shouldn’t judge .. it just seems so strange.
That’s what I’m guessing. Probably thought he was entitled to a girl’s V because most of his classmates were gettin’ them some in today’s hedonistic climate.
What did she say to him?
Pretty obviously it was related. The shooting was just one week later.
I know, there is no excuse for what happened. I get that. But it seems related.
What was it, she said to him?
Anyone know?
When my son was hit by a car, I wrote a FB post and asked my friends to pray for him. We were driving to the hospital. I think I also wrote onyx on FR at the same time. It took us almost 45 minutes to get to the hospital in heavy morning traffic.
Oh for the delicate manners of old! She could have saved herself and all the others. Not that I’m blaming her of course. I am sick over this whole thing.
But I don’t think I would have spoken to media via Facebook. Ugh.
I think she rightfully told him off. He was pressuring her for 4 months. How was she do know that he would respond that way after she hit him with the clue-by-four?
I think that’s what struck me .. she’s having a “private” message to the LA Times? I totally get contacting FRiends, asking for prayers, sharing the news, bad as it may be, with friends, but the LA Times? And I don’t think the daughter was too smart to humiliate anyone in front of the class. She could have gone to a counselor and asked him/her to speak with the boy.
I hope your son is OK now? I know what an emotional toll it takes on parents to have their kid(s) in the ER. It’s like you can hardly breathe. And you DO need friends and support. You don’t need the LA Times.
This all began with the Community Mental Health Act of 1963, and the resulting deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill. The mental illness advocates will say that the vast majority of mentally ill individuals are harmless and at most a risk to themselves. And that's true. Maybe one in a million crazy people is crazy enough and capable enough for a mass shooting. But that one in a million is enough.
Medical treatment of mental illness is much more effective in 2018 than it was in 1963. Unfortunately, we can't force treatment and the vast majority of mental hospital beds are no more.
He's more likely to get Dahmlered before he hits 25 under the law of the inmates.
