A couple of years ago I sat on a jury in a civil trial. From the docket number on the case, I knew it had been filed four years before it went to trial.
One thing I've noticed in this saga is that we get a lot of intelligent input from lawyers who offer a wide range of views on the subject ... but you never seem to hear any of them complaining that things aren't happening fast enough. That's because they know better than anyone else how long a legal process takes.
And they get paid by the hour.
Hypothetically what if there was a monetary incentive for the lawyers for speed and a monetary penalty for delay?
