The agency, led by Ben Carson, announced Friday evening that it was withdrawing the assessment tool by which cities and counties are supposed to identify housing discrimination and other problems faced by minorities and other groups.
Conservative critics, including Carson, have argued that it represents an unwarranted intrusion of federal government influence into local zoning matters.
The Obama version of the rule would have required cities and counties to use the tool, and data provided by the federal government, to spell out exactly which kinds of disparities their citizens faced. For example, if minorities lived in areas that lack public transit and other services, that would be identified as a problem to be fixed. If the government failed to lay out a plan to address that problem, through re-zoning, transit, or other means, it could, in theory, face the loss of HUD funds.
Shortly after the rule was introduced, Carson derided it as "government-engineered attempts to legislate racial equality.

“Bravo, Doctor! He has been doing a really good job. No fuss, no muss, just draining the swamp.”
I’m SO happy for Ben! He’s a super good guy and a REALLY smart guy. I was always amazed to watch how much more he had learned about foreign policy from primary debate to primary debate. Trump made a fantastic pick with this appointment.
I only wish some more of the primary candidates had agree to serve as well. REALLY wish Giuliani or Chris Christie had taken attorney general; either would have been hell on wheels ...
“Is this the rule that allowed them to build low-income housing wherever they wanted - so they could implant refugees all over the country?”
No, this was the rule that would have REQUIRED local authorities to implant refugees and gibmedats throughout all neighborhoods which “didn’t have enough of them”.
Hahaha. MAGA! The Fraud/Traitor’s “legacy” mainly consists of what my dog keeps leaving on my neighbor’s lawn.
Why do I say that? Every day is Christmas as every rotten plank in Obama's Play House is taken down, one by one. It has got to gall him no end. It isn't just his playhouse, it's Bubba's, The Busheee's and if he Iran to Collapses and goes free and we get to dismantle their newkee's and or program, he removes Carter's playhouse, no just on us but on humanity.
Every Day, I am so not tired of winning...
Good comment. Even better tag line there, taildragger.
Dr. Carson addressed the National Realtors Association on Thursday and said they were waiting on a nomination to be confirmed and he could not do many things until this nominee would be confirmed.
The demoncrats are really holding up President Trump and his people.
It’s like the first year or two Dems are all about obstructing Nominations.........which basicaly is trying to retain their power.
Uhhhh...so are the a-hole never-Trump gop loser/liars.
......”We should eliminate HUD entirely”....
It’s pretty bad when Hud housing is ‘better’ than what working people can afford.
I remember that....it doesn’t work moving section 8 people into better neighborhoods. They drag down the neighborhood the day they move in!
Family members lived in a really nice cul de sac....great neighborhood for raising kids. Parents had Christmas Parties and outside movies for all the kids etc. Until one of the neighbors sold their house to section 8. Even after all the families begged them not to sell it it was too late...deal was done.
In one week the boom box’s were blaring, old worn out cars parked up and down their drive.....and not long before their kids were beating up on everyone else’s while the mother sat on her deck eating bom boms... just for starters!
Everybody was moving out that Spring....when our family members moved there were three others moving that same week...
Well Obama isn’t sitting around ....he’s definatly got his robo caller student bots busy ...and training others in Chicago and elsewhere for the 2020 election..and also for Novmbers.....
Wasn’t long ago he complained about how often he has to organize his groups.
Thank you! This belongs way up the list of winning!
Dreadful-—did any of the residents attempt to contact the owner of the house?
.
Yes, once they learned who they were selling it to, but the family said they had to sell it right away and couldn’t wait any longer because he was relocating for work etc. and purchasing another house they needed the funds for
The neighborhood even offered to show the house and keep track for them but to no avail. It was a very sad day.
I am NOT arguing,I am confused.
Section 8 residents are tenants, not owners-———someone must own the house now.
That said,it doesn’t take much to ruin a formerly nice neighborhood. Sad.
.
We have one of the section 8 houses in our neighborhood.....we constantly watch tenants move in and out because they always create issues in the neighborhood...so they move on. We’ve even spoken with the owner about who he gets in there, interesting he doesn’t have a lot of say it appears. So I suspect save for other owners.
