I wish I had seen the ad, it sounds like a good one.
“The GOP fielded a really good, pro-life and pro-second Amendment candidate and crushed the Rats here last night.”
It’s amazing what happens when Republicans act like Republicans and not Democrat-lite.
For your reading enjoyment
btt
As I read it....it was a primary and the gop candidate had more votes than all other gop candidates and also had more votes than the rat got in the rat primary.
Maybe I read the article incorrectly but I don’t think it has “flipped” yet.
Yes, the seat has “flipped”, but it was a special election and he faces Mitchell again in November.
The primary was held along with a special election at the same time. Both candidates won their primary and O’Neal won the Special election at the same time.
He will serve out the remaining term and both will rematch in the Fall for the next term.
Ahhh....
That is why you never come out swinging and calling names when you think someone made a “boo boo.” Hahah
Finally some good news in a special election. :D
Because Saccone frankly looked like a sloven sack of you know what, and the Lamb looked, young, sharp and articulate. WHen we put up good looking, smart guys and gals, they win
Was this one of the districts that was re-drawn by the court in Pennsylvania, or is that not in effect yet?
That could effect comparisons with past years.
What office were they running for? State legislature?
This is the same District (PA-48) as “Blue Wave” poster boy Conor Lamb, but Lamb just won the special election for the Congressional seat.
It is significant that the same pool of voters swung Republican, in just a few months.
These werent touched. These are the State legislative districts. The court redrew the federal districts.
“What office were they running for? State legislature?”
This flipped seat was a state seat, not federal.
Lamb is running against incumbent Keith Rothfus in the new PA-17. New PA-17 would have gone for Trump by only 2.5 points in 2016. That is going to be a close race this fall. The Dems will be dumping megabucks (they don’t have) into that race.
Lamb won old PA-14 against Rick Saccone in a special election earlier this year. Lamb would more than likely lose in new PA-14.
Rick Saccone ran and lost, again, yesterday to Guy Reschenthaler in PA-14 (it’s pretty clear that Saccone wasn’t a very good political candidate, but he’s certainly a good guy ... it isn’t my intent to speak ill of the man).
New PA-14 should be solid R, but the Dems and Repubs cast an almost identical number of ballots yesterday ... still, I doubt new PA-14 will be close this fall.
Due to the stupid court case the libs slyly won, PA has been gerrymandered, again, in a way that will see the Dems pick up two seats without any problems. The Rothfus seat is in jeopardy, so that makes a third loss possible.
If there is a “blue wave” (and I have my doubts), they can certainly pick up more in PA, but I think -3 is the worst case this fall. The Rs can make that loss up somewhere else. It’d be stupid to dump a ton of resources into the two new “solid D” districts the Rs will lose. Rothfus is going to need a lot of support to beat back Lamb and the Rs are better off finding weaker D seats to attempt to win.
Any relation to “Tip” O’Neal of Watergate fame?
Or maybe they just had a fair vote count for a change?
Not likely since he spelled it O’Neill as in Thomas Phillip “Tip” O’Neill Jr.
