Police say seatbelts saved the lives of two people who crashed their $300,000 supercar in the Nevada desert, but the vehicles engineers deserve a fair share of the credit.
The Nevada Highway Patrol found the totaled McLaren 720 about 70 yards off a road near Lake Mead last week, with damage suggesting that it had rolled at least once as it just missed falling down a ravine.
The 710 horsepower coupé is one of the quickest cars in the world, and has a top speed of 212 mph. It features a carbon fiber passenger cell, similar to a racecars, thats designed to be both lightweight and extremely strong.

When i was 19 i owned almost that exact Z-28.
mine was a ‘78, silver with black interior.
Was a beautiful, perfect car.....i also totaled it in a similar fashion.
Totaled with not a scratch on the body......ugh.
Hit a curb head on around a curve in the rain with the brakes engaged, wheels locked up... 1986.

4 Brand new Eagle GT’s ruined along with the car....still owed about a grand on my brand new Goodyear credit card.

I saw them come into town, (Las Vegas) as they came down 40 into Kingman and then to Vegas. About 40 cars or so cars passed us. Saw some later while we were going to Boulder City. There was a small group of cars...wonder if one of those cars was the one pictured.
I remember a couple of months ago, seeing a long line of super sports cars come thru our town, Fort Walton Beach Florida.
While seeing super cars is not unusual here, seeing that many at one time/place on the road is.............
I will move to Fort Walton Beach some day. You are very fortunate.
