Moscow offered two explanations on Monday as to why its Russian-made Pantsir S-1 missile defense system embarrassingly took a direct hit during an Israeli airstrike last week.
"One is that it had already used up its ammunition reserve," Aytech Bizhev, the former deputy commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force, said, according to RT. "The other is that it was simply turned off; it wasn't battle ready."
Israeli fighter jets struck dozens of Iranian military sites in Syria last Thursday, killing at least 23 people, including 5 Syrian soldiers.

Bibis Boyz defeat Vlads vexed.
I rather suspect the Russian Air Force could put up a decent fight. But that Russia/ Putin dont want to tangle with Israel. - because Israel has a fine defense force - and because Russia knows why Israel needs to remove serious threats like the Iranian missile Stockpiles and because Jerusalem is just not Russias target or reason for being in the area. The Saudi pipeline plan is still effectively blocked now and thats among russias Main objectives - this is mostly about who controls the energy markets
That has got to HURT!
intergalactic travel is no problem at all!
the solution has been given us for free, for a number of years already

but he does sorta fit here, ha!
Syrian Pantsir-S1 was destroyed in Al Mazzeh AB
The system was moving to reload while it was hit (the system launched all of its missiles and had to reload)
The Israeli missile hit the operating cabin directly.
Killed was Lt. Colonel Ayham Habib after he emptied all of his missiles against the incoming Israeli projectiles on Damascus./Mezzeh Airbase.
He was killed while moving his weapon to the safety point.
Also succumbing to injuries was Capt. Ali Kasser Mahmoud who spent much of the war fighting Daesh at the Kuweires Airbase.
Those darn “Jids”!
The Israelis shot down Soviet piloted MIGs over Egypt and Syria 1967-1972.
The Israelis destroyed Russian built SAMs in 1967, 1973, 1982 and now again.
The Russian client states are now confused and worried. THAT is a good thing.
Iran should take note.
This tiny “Jid” run state is kicking their arses, short term.
I thought it was supposed to be a picture of a guided rocket.
yes. the Acme Supply Company is standing by to provide all the rockets we may ever require
and there’s no doubt they’re at least as experienced and expert at making rockets as many other corporations...

I’m very suspicious of everything and I look at this as a win win for the Russians. If the system worked awesome! If there was a problem than figure it out. A intelligence gathering coup either way.
Who better to test your systems against than the IAF on their home turf.
Isnt this the Russian missile system that Turkey is buying, knowing that their doing so may well put their NATO membership at risk??? Plus, that decision may also cause Turkey to lose its order of 30 F-35s...
Not a very good trade for Turkey, in my opinion.
The propaganda here is a bit thick. The Russian version is that half the incoming Israeli missiles were shot down.
Keep in mind Syria was using the S-200 system, an older less advanced system, not the system that Turkey wants anyway.
Russia has two more advanced air defense systems the S-300 and S-400.
“Russia has two more advanced air defense systems the S-300 and S-400”
And Israel is worried Syria will get the S-300s much less the S-400s.
