Senate candidate and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) on Sunday night denounced the pastor expected to speak at Monday's ceremony celebrating the opening of the new U.S. embassy in Jerusalem.
"Robert Jeffress says 'you can’t be saved by being a Jew,' and 'Mormonism is a heresy from the pit of hell.' He’s said the same about Islam. Such a religious bigot should not be giving the prayer that opens the United States Embassy in Jerusalem," Romney tweeted.
Jeffress, a Dallas-based pastor and known supporter of President Trump, said over the weekend that he would be leading the prayer at the dedication of the new embassy. Trump announced in December that he was relocating the embassy to Jerusalem, a move that drew international condemnation and sparked concerns of a widening conflict in the Middle East.
According to a report from Haaretz, Jeffress has made derogatory remarks about Islam in the past, calling it "a religion that promotes pedophilia" and a "heresy from the pit of hell."
He has also called Mormonism "a cult" that is not a true part of Christianity and said "you can't be saved by being a Jew," Haaretz reported.
Jeffress endorsed Romney, who is Mormon, for president back in 2012, despite derogatory comments the pastor made at the time about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Well, I’m kinda familiar with Jeffress and he is radical. It’s odd because he’s the pastor of the legendary First Baptist Church of Dallas and they’ve had some really great pastors over the years.

Robert Jeffress is right about Mormonism being heresy, because that doctrine doesn’t accept the Scriptures account, which teaches that Jesus is God.
Mormons believe that Jesus was just a man who worked his way to become “a god.”
As far as a Jew going to hell, I’m pretty sure Robert Jeffress is talking about Jews that rely on Judaism for salvation, without believing in their Messiah, Jesus.
Obviously, Jews are going to heaven too, because most of the New Testament was written by Jews.
EVERY ONE must have the Son of God as their Savior, no matter who you are or what you believe, or they will be lost.
The Bible says that there is no other name under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Jeffress has his lips stuck way too firmly on Mr trumps various body parts, but his comments on Jews and Mormons are accurate.

Mormonism is a different gospel, with a different Jesus. The Jesus of Mormonism, is not the Jesus of the Bible. In short, it’s a false religious system.

Pretty sure that you only get your only planet if you are a Temple Mormon (not just an ordinary Mormon) - and pretty sure you need to be a man. Probably need to be white, but they’ve re-written their books about blacks, so maybe they too can now get their own planet.
Getting one’s own planet is pretty cool. But the 72 virgins that the muslims get is pretty tempting too. Too bad Christianity doesn’t have as good as PR. Our pastor a few months ago was pointing out various scriptures that in heaven we will have work to do in service to God.
Of course having one’s own planet will also mean a lot of work to be done (wait - I have to create all my own stuff from scratch!!!???). And at my age, 72 virgins would require quite an effort as well!
