Then-Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid released a letter in the heat of the 2016 election alleging Trump-Russia collusion even though the CIA director at the time urged him not to, according to a person familiar with their conversation.
Mr. Reid’s Aug. 27 letter to the FBI appears to mark the first time a Democrat officially accused President’ Trump’s campaign of colluding with the Russian government to hack his party’s computers.
The letter has come to represent for conservatives the “deep state” — Obama loyalists leaking unproven allegations to the press against Mr. Trump and his people to ruin the campaign, the transition and the White House.
“The evidence of a direct connection between the Russian government and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign continues to mount,” Mr. Reid wrote to FBI Director James B. Comey.
Mr. Reid wrote and leaked his letter after receiving a secret telephone briefing from then-CIA Director John Brennan.
The retired senator has portrayed the letter as having the blessing of Mr. Brennan, a fierce Trump critic who suggests the president is beholden to Russian President Vladimir Putin for fear of blackmail.
But now the Brennan side rebuts Mr. Reid’s contention that the then-CIA director was actively trying to leak damaging anti-Trump information during the election.
Nick Shapiro, former deputy chief of staff for Mr. Brennan as CIA director, told The Washington Times that his ex-boss considered the information sensitive. He expressly urged Mr. Reid to confine the information to private discussions with Mr. Comey.
That August, Mr. Brennan was briefing the so called “gang of eight” congressional leaders on Russian computer hacking and on suspicious that Trump people were involved.
Mr. Shapiro, now a Brennan adviser, provided this version of the Brennan-Reid phone call:

They were never suspicious of the Trump people being involved in any Russian hacking, if it occurred.
They KNOW it was all fabricated.

A few weeks before the Senate voted to confirm Brennan as CIA director, former FBI agent John Guandolo revealed that Brennan had, indeed, converted to Wahhabist Islam while he was CIA station chief in Riyadh. Guandalo quoted Brennan as having said that he “marveled at the majesty of the Hajj.” The Hajj is the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca and is reserved only for devout Muslims. Guandalo was quoted as telling a radio interviewer, “Mr. Brennan did convert to Islam when he served in an official capacity on the behalf of the United States in Saudi Arabia.” A website that is known to be financed by the CIA and George Soros, Snopes.com, attacked the notion that Brennan is a Wahhabist and ignored the controversy completely. The similarly CIA- and Soros-influenced Wikipedia completely ignored the controversy.
One of Brennan’s chief lieutenants at the CIA, the agency’s chief of the Counter-Terrorism Center (CTC), known only as “Roger,” did convert to Sunni Islam. This fact was reported by The Washington Post. “Roger’s” career at the CIA started about the same time that Brennan joined the agency. “Roger, ” whose real name is Michael A. D’Andrea or “Mike”, joined in 1979, Brennan in 1980. Both became fluent in Arabic. D’Andrea’s CIA nickname was “The Wolf.”
WMR learned from a well-placed U.S. intelligence source that Rolling Stone journalist Michael Hastings was working on a story about Warren and Brennan before he died in a suspicious fiery auto crash in Beverly Hills, California, in June 2013, a little over three months after Brennan became CIA director. The perennially-suspect Wikipedia incorrectly lists Warren’s religion as “Christian.”
I don’t know if there is a Brennan-Soros connection. I do suspect if you dig deep enough, he’ll turn out to be a communist sleeper-mole.
