German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas says Berlin is set to change its policy towards the US after Washingtons walkout on the Iran nuclear deal. In the comments published by the German Spiegel magazine on Friday, Maas addressed the diplomatic crisis that saw Donald Trump ignore the appeals of the USAs European allies to keep the deal in place.
While Germany intends to continue seeking cooperation with the US, Maas said his country would take a tougher stance towards Washington.
We are prepared to talk, negotiate and also fight for our interests where necessary, Maas told Spiegel. This goes for all levels, not just for the White House. [ ]
Speaking to Spiegel, Maas said that the US-German ties started deteriorating long before the Iran withdrawal. The transformation which the US is undergoing had already taken hold of trans-Atlantic ties, he said. Germany felt the change before Tuesday nights disappointment.
Maas deputy, Niels Annen, also slammed Washington in the Spiegel article, saying the US had very little willingness to take the arguments of its allies seriously. The Iran deal withdrawal was the wrong decision with grave long-term consequences for our relations, the deputy foreign minister said.

Germany is an ally? Since when?
Follow the money.
Hey Heiko, how are things going to work out for you when Trump puts a tariff on your Krautmobiles and Nazi Thunderbirds?
Pay your NATO bill!
Germany is only our friend because we force them to be our friend.
Iran will scupper the deal unless its fully compensated for the US withdrawal.
Translation: Euroweenies have to pay Iran blackmail to keep the fiction of the JCPOA alive.
They can’t even meet their NATO defense spending commitments!
Good luck with it.

Lay that lobbyist money into Congress you terrorist supporting, money grubbing, thief.
Germany is the enemy...
Hey Germany....whose nuclear umbrella do you live under?? Maybe it is time you PROVIDED YOUR OWN DEFENSES...time for a real attitude adjustment.
Germany taking a “tougher stance”. I suggest they take a “tougher stance” against the Muzzies who are taking over their country. Idiots.
Germany is the enemy...
A century ago, Germany was the leading power in the world.
While its the most populous country in the EU, its a shadow of its former self.
Thank you President Trump for exposing the worldwide dark money machine.
That’s what they want. Not a good idea to give them what they want, especially when they’re talking this way.
Your “shadow” analogy has different implications. They’re a big empire in search of a Caesar.
Germany isn't even an ally to the rest of Europe. What participation in the European Union has done to multiple European nations is to turn them into dependent nations, with Germany being their economic and policy master. I wouldn't trust Merkel to hit the ground if I saw her jump out of a window.
Plus, if it wasn't for the US winning the cold war, the USSR would still exist and the Berlin Wall would not have come down. We have every right to negotiate our own deals.
The big reason Germany wanted the Iran deal to stay in place was because they were benefiting from it economically:

“Germany is the enemy...”
Yeah, Hitler may be gone, but Facism/Marxism has never faltered there. Time for us to tell them, that they can start defending themselves, and pull out our military. With today’s weapons, having ground troops stationed in Europe is a waste of our money. Especially when these ungrateful a$$holes have used our financing their protection to build their economy and use it to f*ck us! If Americans had any pride, they’d quit buying German products and automobiles. Without our buying their $hit, their economy would be on the skids. Let them see if Iran has the purchasing power to take our place. I would not put it past the Germans if they were found to be producing gas chambers for Iran.
Declare war on us, kraut boy. That worked out pretty well for you the last time.
