When ABC cancelled "Last Man Standing" after its sixth season last year, the show was at the top of its game, with millions of loyal viewers and perched behind only "Modern Family" at the number two ranking among the networks comedy shows.
To say fans were disappointed is an understatement. Although ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey tried to blame the networks decision on the shows high price tag rather than star Tim Allens political affiliation or, worse, his support of President Trump, not many were buying it, particularly Allen.
"I always wanted "Last Man Standing" to be like ['All in the Family's'] Archie Bunker," said Allen last September, according to THR. "Archie Bunker;pushed boundaries, but Carroll O'Connor was not that guy at all. I am a version of that guy. But there is nothing more dangerous, especially in this climate, than a funny, likable conservative character. He is mitigated on the show by a family of women who had a difference of opinions, but [Mike Baxter] was a likable guy and a principled guy about work and ethics and all this stuff."
Theres the rub, of course. Progressives, being the type of folks who want to dominate every aspect of our lives, are certainly used to controlling what the public is allowed to watch, and they do it with gusto, filling countless broadcast hours with what essentially amounts to poorly produced leftist propaganda.
To them, it doesnt matter that Baxters wife on the show, along with at least two of his daughters, lean liberal and represent many liberal viewpoints with class. The fact that a title character on the show, and a likeable one at that, is a conservative and represents many of OUR viewpoints with class was simply a bridge too far, and "Last Man Standing"had to go.
I dont have any inside proof for that, of course, but knowing what I know about how liberals, particularly those with acute cases of Trump-Derangement Syndrome, think, I dont think its a bridge too far.
Except, conservatives have money too, and green is hard to ignore.
Enter "Roseanne," another show geared toward working class America that helped fill the void left by "Last Man Standing" in a yuge way by dominating its time slot and skyrocketing to the top of the Nielsen ratings. Its portrayal of a working-class grandmother who openly supported President Trump because he talked about jobs was refreshing to Trump-supporting, working-class America.
Considering that Roseanne is the only conservative character on the show and many of the other storylines and characters are more reminiscent of a show like "Modern Family" than "Leave it to Beaver," it actually says a lot about what beaten-down conservatives in America are willing to tolerate for their entertainment these days. Sadly, sometimes its enough just to have someone on television openly declaring their support for President Trump and not be portrayed as a monster.
So when conservatives took the bone they tossed us with "Roseanne" and devoured it like a starving wolf, it couldnt have hurt the prospects of bringing back "Last Man Standing", and now the series has officially been revived for a seventh season by Fox.
Allen will be back, as well as stars Nancy Travis, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, Amanda Fuller, and Jordan Masterson. And the Trump-supporting star couldnt be happier.
"Excited? Team LMS was in the sixth inning, ahead by four runs, stands were packed and then for no reason, they call off the game. It leaves you sitting in the dugout, holding a bat and puzzled. Now we get the news from Fox that its time to get back out on that diamond hell yes, Im excited!" Allen said in a Friday statement. "When I heard the offer to create more episodes of 'Last Man Standing,' I did a fist pump so hard I threw my back out. Its the fans! I could not be more grateful for the fans who wrote petitions and kept up the passion and incredible support for the show. And a fist pump, ouch, for Dana Walden and Gary Newman at Fox for not only listening to the fans, but for making the bold move to bring Last Man Standing back. Im sure audiences will be curious to see what we look like after all these years. Oh, has it only been one year? Well, just goes to show you a lot can happen in a year.
My kids couldnt be happier either. They loved the show, and my wife and I loved watching it with them. Politics aside, there are few shows these days that are classy, clean, well produced, well acted, and hilarious to boot.
Heres to watching Tim Allen and "Last Man Standing" hit home runs for many years to come!
Mandy is the hot ditz middle daughter, Eve is the conservative youngest daughter and Mr Alzate is Allen’s boss at the gun store at which he works.
Just so you know...LOL!
The Inglorious Baxters!

Yes! I loved ‘Home Improvement’ and ‘Last Man Standing’ is Great, too.
Be advised that I never vote for the eventual presidential republican candidate during the primaries, unless the president runs for reelection. President Reagan was the first exception when he ran in 1984 for reelection. President George W. Bush the second one in 2004. President Trump will be the third exception on March 3, 2020
You recall wrong, Imp. There were three... hot daughters, left to right in photo are Kaitlyn Dever as Eve Baxter, Molly Ephraim as Mandy Baxter & Alexandra Krosney as Kristin Baxter.
Plus a hot wife, Nancy Travis, who has aged very well for her 56 years!
I watched the series during its entire run on ABC. My biggest question was why Alexandra Krosney, who play single mom and eldest daughter on the program's 1st season, was let go due to "creative reasons."
She was much better looking, IMHO, than Amanda Fuller who plays Kristin the last 5 seasons.
Anywho, I'll be watching when it comes back--

The middle daughter.
Not a bad show.
Wish they’d lose the laugh track, though.
Certainly not. I didn't vote for Trump in the primary either, I was a Ted Cruz man.
The specific reason I took issue with Tim Allen's "conservative" record is that he was a strong John Kasich supporter in the primary. I don't recall any FReepers supporting John Kasich (to be fair, I'm sure a handful on this forum did, but they were probably not vocal about it) and I don't know any rock-ribbed conservatives who were backing Kasich in the primary. Kasish's base was GOP moderates, and hence my argument that Allen, though a Republican, is probably more on the moderate side of the spectrum than a Reaganite.
For the record, I don't even think Kasich is that bad (he seems clearly to the right of say, Jon Huntsman, who was a favorite of the mainstream media and championed as a "reasonable Republican" during the 2012 primaries because he's a leftist RINO). Plenty on this forum think Kasich is RINO scum, however.
I'm also well aware that Hollyweird is probably 95% marxist Democrats, so I give kudos to Allen for at least being openly Republican. I just think his "conservative" credentials aren't as strong as you seem to think they are.
Openly Republican in Hollywood is more than enough for me to give someone extra support, in the current era.
I disagree. For example, Whore-aldo Rivera, though an across-the-board leftist, claims to be a Republican. He's a prominent figure in the entertainment industry. The fact he self-identifies as "Republican" is not going to give him any brownie points with me if he wants to launch a new television show or needs a new platform to spew his BS.
Why the Hell does it take 50 posts to point out that it’s Disney pulling the strings?
Seriously, FRiends.
To someone who’s not “plugged in” to politics like we are, Kasich may have seemed a perfectly cromulent conservative choice.
I’ve never watched the series. I guess I’ll have to check it out.
Note: this topic is from . Thanks Kaslin. The partisan scumbags at ABC didn't count on this. Oh, and their shallow attempt to cash in at the expense of Rosanne is going to fail, miserably.
