As the New York Times was bashing Mike Pompeo for being missing in action while President Trump tore up the Iran nuclear deal, it turned out the secretary of state was busy rescuing three Americans who have been held captive in North Korea.
In an apparent jab at the administration, The Times headline said, At a Key Moment, Trumps Top Diplomat Is Again Thousands of Miles Away.
The Times story noted that Senior State Department officials were momentarily speechless on Tuesday when asked why Mr. Pompeo did not delay his trip by a day to be in Washington during Mr. Trumps Iran deal announcement.
It became clear on Wednesday morning why Pompeo didnt delay his trip to Pyongyang when Trump took to Twitter.
I am pleased to inform you that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in the air and on his way back from North Korea with the 3 wonderful gentlemen that everyone is looking so forward to meeting. They seem to be in good health, Trump wrote. Secretary Pompeo and his guests will be landing at Andrews Air Force Base at 2:00 A.M. in the morning. I will be there to greet them. Very exciting!
The Times story noted that Pompeo was expected to return from his trip with the detainees in the caption of a photo accompanying the story, so it's curious why the headline attempted to paint his trip in a negative light.
The New York Times did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The story, written by Gardiner Harris, focused on Trumps top diplomat being absent when Trump made what could be the most significant diplomatic announcement of his presidency by pulling out of the Iran nuclear agreement.

“The New York Times did not immediately respond to a request for comment.”
THAT made me LOL.
Someone needs to inform the Times that there is a wonderous new invention called a telephone.
PDJT is more interested in getting things done than in photo ops.
fish wrap
The New York Times did not immediately respond to a request for comment. .................. Wait a couple of weeks, an apology will be in the classifieds somewhere around used refrigerators for sale.
I call ‘em “DSM” — Deep State Media.
#FakeNews does mean they carefully choose what to report, with the goal being to make President Trump look as bad as possible. Story selection is part of #FakeNews. When that doesn't do the job, the biased presentation becomes part of #FakeNews. When even that doesn't work, then they start making stuff up for their #FakeNews. The only problem is that no one but their reliable cheerleaders listens to the news any more. Nothing they say about President Trump even registers, not after three solid years of #FakeNews:
.....Paging James Woods for a Twitter response!.....
Paging .......Paging.....Paging.....
If Trump walked on water, the NYT headline would exclaim "Trump Can't Swim!".
The NYT, for those who want the finest in fish-wrap.
It's like the time when President Bush took a secret trip to Iraq in 2003 to spend Thanksgiving with the troops, and the MSM fretted over Air Force One faking its call sign during the trip.

Sounds like the last set of firings seems to have plugged a serious leak.
VP’s Dr?
Looks like the New York Times again fell into a big pile of excrement.
Most likely the NORKS required a person at cabinet level to make the hand off else there may not have been any release. Kim needs to show - with propaganda - how high a level of U.S. officials must kowtow to him to get our hostages released (likely labelled spies by the NORKS).
What about the phony dog poo?
