Why Science and Experience Command That You Buy an 'Assault Rifle'

It must be nice walking through life believing that the paradise the founders built here in North America is the natural state of man, and that we can therefore forgo the difficult and dangerous tasks associated with defending it. But some of us don’t have the luxury of illusions. We know that peace and civilization are not the natural state of man, and that the black swan events that we have somehow convinced ourselves could never happen do happen with startling regularity. And this is why you should buy guns and ammunition.

Specifically, you should own, at a minimum, a modern semiautomatic rifle like an AR-15 that is simple to operate, easily accessorized for the individual user, reliable, and rugged. Liberals call these “assault rifles,” though they are not. Insisting that liberals be accurate when describing what they seek to ban is “gunsplaining,” a heinous macroaggression that is right up there with assuming someone’s gender on the Big List O’ Liberal Sins.

A bare bones AR can be had for under $400 and a tad of sweat equity. I just “built” one for under $475 that included a free float railed hand guard and Magpul furniture.

“We know that peace and civilization are not the natural state of man...”
~~~~~
Civilization seems to be, over the last several thousand years. Man seems to gravitate to it.
But yes, the point is still correct. Civilization is rarely civilized. Even when there is a great deal of order in civilizations, it is usually highly oppressive.
Then there is peace. Peace is an illusion. Most of the great periods of peace have come through strength. Weak peoples and weak nations are almost always not at peace for very long. History shows you that time and time and time again.
First off by definition an assault rifle is FULLY AUTOMATIC.
Now back to the current fake reality. I don’t own what is wrongly called and assault rifle. I do have semi auto rifles that would serve the purposes in my eyes. No they’re not black or camouflaged. They have pretty walnut stocks and are extremely accurate. I never had the urge to buy one. But love the fact that many of my neighbors have them. As long as the 2nd amendment is in force we are a free country.
If some day I move to a FREE state I’ll get a fully automatic weapon if I can find one I can afford.
Probably why there are semi quotation marks around ‘assault rifle’ in the header. LOL! Makes no difference to the anti gun nutz though. Full, semi, it doesn’t matter. Like difi said, they are built to be like spray hoses to kill as many people as possible. And, she’ll more than likely be back for another 6 years come this Nov.
I see the “arm of flesh” cruising for a bruising.
If people won’t understand God (actual God not the politically convenient icons of men) then pretty soon not only will the land be indefensible, it won’t be worth defending. Your quest will be as vain as that of these secular liberals you despise.
Owning a full auto is purty steep these days. I just looked up at random and found an full auto H&K MP 5 for close to $30,000. An M-14 select fire for $20,000 and a converted select fire Mini-14 for a mere $9,995. So, retirement better be good. LOL!
Yep, but your local sheriff or cop shop can pick up that BRAND NEW (not pre 1986) HK for 1,200. M14 for 2k, and Mini 14 for $400.00.
I was going to say, is an M1 Carbine or an SKS okay for my militia weapon?
Or, the bad guys pop a box car somewhere along the rail lines and get some for free. ;-)
The paper trail involved with the legal purchase of any firearm in Cali prevents me from buying anything. I keep thinking of the exchange between Mel Gibson and Sam Elliot in “We Were Soldiers”.
Lt. Colonel Hal Moore : I think you oughta get yourself an M-16.
Sergeant Major Basil Plumley : Sir, if the time comes I need one, there’ll be plenty lying on the ground.
I would like a full auto Tommy gun. And a .30-06 1919 browning air cooled MG. Just what I like. Nothing to do with Home protection. though it would be a hell of a firefight
Let me clarify. If you don’t think firearm purchase records will not be the first thing used when the order comes to confiscate weapons, then you are mistaken.
There is no reason that I cannot legally purchase a firearm.
If I paint the container table salt black, will that make it an assault shaker?
The AR... Reliable? Ridiculous. It is one of the most unreliable weapons ever made, even featuring an “anti-jam” plunger and other complications that make it comparatively difficult to strip. I have no idea how Armalite got that contract, and no idea how many boys that silly rifle killed. The AR is like a Range Rover: Love it if you love it. Own it if you want it. (I love mine.) But don’t call it “reliable.”
