Folks, don’t worry about it.
They are attempting to go Dixie Chicks on Kanye.
Here is why I don’t think it’ll work.
1. The Dixie Chicks were bad mouthing the sitting President. Kanye did just the opposite. These “slavery was a choice” comment is a canard. He is being attacked for liking Trump.
2. The Dixie Chicks were nasty and defiant in their hatred of the President. Kanye is, at this point, speaking kindly and about ‘love’.
3. African Americans have already demonstrably shown a willingness to listen to Kanye—evidenced by the recent Reuters poll of black males support for Trump. Now this may very well be a blip. But the more the water is stirred, the better it’ll be for the Constitution and America.
4. The Dixie Chicks were operating in an environment where radio was much more important than it is today. So many more venues exist to obtain musical product than radio.
Feel free to disagree, I’m willing to listen.
But in my estimation, this is showing us MORE about the black radio stations than it is about Kanye.
I think that the numbers are the telling factor. It is likely that there are more than enough rational black Americans that will take the Kanye message to heart and join his effort.
If as few as only 5% of the Black Hillary voters see the light, Kanye has succeeded. Any more than that is icing on the cake.
The truth is that many, even most, of the black people that listen to that station do not vote any way.
Then there is more. Perhaps a few, even a very few will make their agreement known and slip their plantation shackles. When these voices join, the percentage might grow to 10 %.
I don't know anything about the music of Kanye West. I literally had to Google him when this controversy broke to find out who he even was. I then linked to one of his YouTube music videos and 45 seconds was all I could stand of it.
I wish him well and I appreciate his support of the president but I think he's doing it more for personal reasons than political reasons (he was evidently friends with Trump before he even got into politics). So he might be getting a bad rap here (pardon the pun). If I could tolerate his music, I'd listen to it to support him but sorry, I cannot stand it!
Entertainers and business people should really stay out of politics. One way or another, you are going to piss off around 50 percent of your potential customers if you take your politics to work with you. Why would you do that?
In my opinion you have it EXACTLY RIGHT!
