Honestly, who wrote this? Yeah, I know its from Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), but who on this staff wrote this rather great piece of comedy regarding military-style rifles. He wants to ban them, buy them back, and prosecute anyone who doesnt abide by his proposed law (via USA Today):
Reinstating the federal assault weapons ban that was in effect from 1994 to 2004 would prohibit manufacture and sales, but it would not affect weapons already possessed. This would leave millions of assault weapons in our communities for decades to come.
Instead, we should ban possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons, we should buy back such weapons from all who choose to abide by the law, and we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons. The ban would not apply to law enforcement agencies or shooting clubs.

I’ve read there are around 15 million AR-15s in circulation. I assume only a small percentage would be turned in if they were made illegal. The purpose of such a law isn’t to “get guns off the streets” but to criminalize whole classes of Americans that Democrats don’t like.
This smarmy f*cker represents the district next to ours. He took over from the worst a$$hole to ever be a congressman, Fortney (Pete) Stark. But Stark was smart, this guy has the IQ of an amoeba. Stark built a bank in Walnut Creek, CA during the Vietnam War and put a Peace Symbol on it in neon. Thankfully, the bank failed and it was torn down a few years ago. Don’t really know from which rock Swalwell crawled out from under.
This ain’t Australia. The British try that shit here and it didn’t exactly go the way they planned it.
This is just the precursor to a universal ban any device using an explosive charge to propel an object; next, will be a ban on anything with a sharp edge - no exceptions.
