Chinese personnel at the country's first overseas military base in Djibouti have been using lasers to interfere with US military aircraft at a nearby American base, activity that has resulted in injuries to US pilots and prompted the US to launch a formal diplomatic protest with Beijing, two military officials told CNN.
The US issued a notice to airmen "to exercise caution when flying in certain areas in Djibouti," which "was issued due to lasers being directed at US aircraft on a small number of separate occasions over the last few weeks," according to the notice obtained by CNN.
"During one incident, there were two minor eye injuries of aircrew flying in a C-130 that resulted from exposure to military-grade laser beams, which were reported to have originated from the nearby Chinese base," the notice said.

Ping.
A laser attack on our military IS an act of war.
Take out the offending target.
But the unasked question is, what in the world are we doing in Djibouti? What’s in our national interest there?
Happened in Seattle. Injured parties were just an afterthought. Like Nichole Simpson’s death. The bigger issue was racism, victims be damned.
Yet, Apple keeps bringing jobs and boosting the Chinese economy.
Western interests have been in Africa for the last 300+ years.
We have an established base near the newly constructed Chinese base.

Don't blame Apple, when other manufacturers like Samsung directly build factories and employ people in communist China to make their products. Apple has no manufacturing jobs in China. Samsung does, along with many other well-known companies. Apple is one of the few that makes products in the USA.
It’s part of the war on terror. Apparently there are a lot of terrorists there. And as Rumsfeld said, it’s better to kill them over there, than wait for them to come over here.
1. Wear protective laser goggles.
2. Lock-on to laser source.
3. Engage!
Looks strategic on the map. At the mouth of the Red Sea.
They’ve been doing this crap and getting away with it for decades. The only thing new here is the use of lasers. They used to bump into us with their planes, etc. Now they have lasers and don’t have to risk their planes and pilots.
“But the unasked question is, what in the world are we doing in Djibouti? Whats in our national interest there?”
If you or I had the right security clearance, we’d know.
Exactly my thoughts. Djibouti is very strategically placed.
Shipping. Commerce.
“Apple has no manufacturing jobs in China.”
Yes, and Foxconn is based in Taiwan, but Apple couldn’t build one IPhone or IPad without the Foxconn factories and slave laborers in Communist China, an arrangement Apple is happy to be part of.
