Exclusive: Democrats lose ground with millennials - Reuters/Ipsos poll
Reuters ^ | April 30, 2018 | Chris Khan

Enthusiasm for the Democratic Party is waning among young voters, so-called millennials, as its candidates head into the crucial midterm congressional elections, according to the Reuters/Ipsos national opinion poll.

The online survey of more than 16,000 registered voters ages 18 to 34 shows their support for Democrats over Republicans for Congress slipped by about 9 percentage points over the past two years, to 46 percent overall. And they increasingly say the Republican Party is a better steward of the economy.

Although nearly two of three young voters polled said they do not like Republican President Donald Trump, their distaste for him does not necessarily extend to all Republicans or translate directly into votes for Democratic congressional candidates.

That presents a potential problem for Democrats who have come to count on millennials as a core constituency - and will need all the loyalty they can get to achieve a net gain of 23 seats to capture control of the U.S. House of Representatives in November.

What good news! Dem party racism will chase away normal people every time. Surprise! They are losing young white voters.

All will be instantly overcome with three little words:

Student Loan Forgiveness

Do not be shocked when the Dems play that card.

"Disdain for Trump. They’er still influenced quite a bit by their parents."

I personally believe there is a lot of peer pressure to 'not like Trump', which translates into being afraid to say that you do. This is why I give Kanye a lot of credit for speaking his mind.

The SOLE reason that Obama moved the Student Loans into the control by the Government. When he did it, he floated the possibility of student loan forgiveness for students who went into ‘Government Service’, which would exponentially raise the numbers of government workers. There was a method to every madness during Obama’s 8 years.

I think millenials are poised to become anti-establishment radicals (deja vu).

But this time, it’ll be against the progressive, PC, education, media and social media establishment which has been smothering them.

Who knows, they might just chuck their smart phone leashes as a form of protest (that would actually hurt their establishment masters). One can hope.

A few of them got to the school class where they finally learned what the black on white symbols on printed pages mean, and then they found out they had been lied to about some bad things they heard about conservatives.

Also, I wonder how many are males who are starting to push back on the insulting and discriminatory anti-male leftist stuff such as anti-male courses in college. Maybe it is not shameful to be a man.

A loan debt that should not have been allowed to become that large.

The .gov was part of the problem.

The .gov was part of the problem.

IMO a problem they specifically created precisely so they could buy themselves one election when it really counted.

That time may be here.

“Young people don’t pay attention to media.”

Older millennials are into their mid 30s———they are not kids anymore.

It’s bigger than that, I am writing a book and information like this is a key part of it as they are entering the workforce as the next wave and they ain’t happy. The focus of the book is Customer Service and how it is a “Lost Art” and it is killing companies and their connection to customers

Maybe it’s Way to uncool to say you like Trump, as a millennial.

My guess would be 45/55 regarding Trump.

My daughter hates Trump and I know it’s because she gets her “news”, therefore her opinions of him, from the liberal sites that are on her phone. We get in big arguments about it, but I still think she votes Republican because she works now and hates paying taxes.

Oh yes. Like Ann Coulter recently pointed out, the left, through its constant finger-wagging about “white privilege” and “toxic masculinity,” is creating a “ferocious generation of right-wingers,” as she put it. Some are rejecting identity politics and becoming conservatives, while others, as you say, are embracing identity politics and forming the “alt-right.” Our republic will be better off with more of the former, but watching the left deal with the Frankenstein they’ve created in the alt-right will provide years of amusement.

They don’t want to like Trump but I think they are seeing the alternative will be much worse for them financially. They are more socially liberal but they want to have jobs.
