I think he wants to die as an active Senator. He will get a 3-day funeral with all 3 cable news stations slobbering all over him. If he were going to live years from now, he’d resign. I think he knows his days are numbered.
Dragging out his departure from the Senate actually has a practical purpose. If he resigned before now they’d have a special election to replace him. If he waits until early May — after the six-month point before Election Day in November — then the AZ governor appoints a replacement to serve until November when an election is held to get someone to serve the remainder of his term.

Exactly. McCain goes to the Mayo clinic on AFGE insurance. These damn Congress critters need to be stripped of it plus FERS. These clowns are elected by the same people they forget- not federal/gov. employees who are hired.

We need him to live another 33 days. Then the election on the interim appointment won’t come until 2020... one less headache to deal with this year. Then the traitorous old bastard can drop dead.
