According to a press release from College Station police, animal control officers were called to the intersection of University Drive East and Forest Drive around 4:30 p.m. on the report of an aggressive snake. Authorities say the foot-long snake was identified as a young albino monocled cobra. Animal control officers were able to capture the reptile, which is generally found in Asia. Authorities are seeking the snakes owner to ensure that no one has been bitten by the snake. Anyone walking dogs in the area is reminded to stay vigilant. Ownership of the snake is considered a violation of College Station city ordinance.

Uh, it wasn’t Obama, it was probably some serious herp who bought it in Miami.
Nowhere does it say what state this is in, unless my waiting-on-coffee stupor missed it.
This is College Station, Texas? A Bush on the loose?
College Station is in TX.
My guess is Texas, because there’s a link at the top of the page to “Aggies Sports.” Texas A&M?
Check topics and keywords.
Obama might have brought it in for the funeral and let it loose.
More likely, a snake among the Bushes.
And seeing the picture of the little guy, does NOT reassure.
Where is Mom.
And how many babies do they usually have?
The Bushes do have a history of hissing.
Texas...you are right. I live here.
College Station is the location of Texas A&M University.
Clearly what is needed now are some Indian mongooses. (It’s not “mongeese”. I checked.)
Back in the spring of 1981, I spent a couple of months in Denver. While there, there was a suicide of a couple in the Rocky Mountain range. They’d driven up to some peak and done themselves in. Cops found the car...radioed the plates in, and sent a car out to their residence.
So the cops arrive at the house and there’s a chat with the neighbor, informing them of the passing of the two. Then the neighbor stops them and asks....are there any burlap bags in the car? An explanation is given.
Cops call up the folks on the mountain top, and they open up the trunk of the car. Probably a dozen burlap bags there, empty.
So, you see, these two nutcases were snake collectors. They were all into the exotic and more dangerous type of non-American snakes. In their collection, some were pairs...some were not. They’d taken them up to the hilltop and released them prior to committing suicide.
I noticed in the Denver newspaper a week after this...short column. Some snake expert had gone up to look at the scene and tasked by the cops to assess things. It was a short piece....maybe twelve lines. He felt that the harsh winter season would likely kill off these breeds, and being on the higher elevations...virtually guaranteed that. Still, you couldn’t be 100-percent sure about this.
College Station animal control officers captured an albino monocled cobra off University Drive East on Friday.
One looks at Florida and the infestation of pythons. These jackasses that insist on having snakes like this for pets or endangering everybody. One day we’re going to have cobras all over Texas or mambas all over Florida.
Young albino monocled cobras are about $250-350 on the web, so only a little expensive.
Cute little thing...
Cute snaky, but probably not competitive with the local venomous snakes: not adapted to the climate.
