You’re probably right but the horrible thing to me is not that, in their judgment, Evans would never recover and therefore should be removed from life support, but that they have effectively kidnapped the boy to prevent the parents from taking him somewhere that is willing to at least try to save him, because if that were successful, it would make the NHS look awfully bad.
I don’t know enough about the details of his medical condition to verify that, but it’s a huge risk in a society where everyone has an expectation that their lives will be managed by the state from birth to death.
You are correct. The child was effectively dead.
The issue boils down to the parents right to take the child to Italy for treatment. I’ve seen no argument as to why the state had the rght to allow treatment to be with held.
