Linda Vester had a reputation for covering tough stories. As a war correspondent for NBC News in the 90s, she spent three tours of duty in the Middle East and took two assignments in Africa.
But as it turned out, her biggest battle at work wasnt in the field. She says it was as a victim of sexual harassment by Tom Brokaw, the legendary newsman who manned the anchor desk for NBC Nightly News for 22 years and hosted Today and Meet the Press.
In a series of interviews with Variety conducted over several months, Vester alleged that Brokaw physically tried to force her to kiss him on two separate occasions, groped her in a NBC conference room and showed up at her hotel room uninvited. Two friends who Vester told at the time corroborated her story with Variety, and she shared her journal entries from the time period. Brokaw, who has been married to Meredith Auld since 1962, has never before been publicly accused of sexual harassment.

NBC culture...Matt Lauer...
So did Tom..........( I do too)
No wonder he could never pronounce Matt Llllllllauer.
Well aint THIS sweet? They are ALL phonies who pretend to tell us how we should act
1)They never forget.
2)They will eat their own.
How sickening that most of the variety comments are SUPPORTING Brokaw.
Really? So men think that a very high up supervisor can push past a junior young employees insistence on NOT getting together, Force a get together, and when there, and given ZERO signal to get romantic, FORCE bodily contact against her will?? And she should just shut up about that?
Disgusting attitude. Hell yes, that is harrassment verging on sexual assault. A forced kiss from a hostile, aggressive boss? If women should put up with that, then straight men should put up with being tickled and force kissed by their much stronger gay male bosses too.
How do you prove you didn’t do something?
I would expect Brokaw to come out swinging to defend himself. He didn’t. He gave a weak statement even admitting he met with her.
What is Vester’s motive? She didn’t ask for money. She seems like a decent person with some values. Good for her.
Its a w-w-waste of a good quaalude, Bill: if youre famous they will LET you grab it!
Sooner or later, every man on Planet Earth will be accused.
You say the man expressed interest in women?
The same people likely rip Trump to shreds when a woman accuses him of ogling them.
They'll defend their own to the death.
If nothing else we now have this Brokaw issue to throw back at them.
How would you react if he tried this on your wife, your daughter, your granddaughter? He had the power to fire her or destroy her career. I’m glad she’s exposing this creep for what he is. Who cares when she does?
Tom Bwowcaw, Glen Blee Glee Glightglee Glues
Riiiight.
She's on the wrong side of 50 in a media career fishing for that Gretchen Carlson settlement while the checks are flying.
Every time they drag Brokaw out of the closet and have him expound on some subject I immediately think that the network should break down and buy him a $100 set of false teeth to replace the ones he got from a pawn shop or someones trash.
First Matt Lauer, today Bill Cosby, next Tom Brokaw. NBC’s support of the Me Too Movement is blowing up in NBC’s face.
You can't sue a dead man, but you can sue his estate.
He was part of the sewer that shoved such crap down everyone’s throat. Let him enjoy it.
