In a major jolt to the Democratic primary race for governor, former Newton mayor Setti Warren has abruptly ended his campaign, saying he faced insurmountable financial hurdles in trying to unseat Governor Charlie Baker.
In an interview with the Globe on Wednesday, Warren said he would e-mail supporters Thursday morning explaining his decision to end the campaign. With only $51,644 in his account after a year of campaigning, Warren said that he did not have the resources to take on the popular Republican, who has a $7.9 million campaign account and consistently high standing in public polls.

Look at all the wonderful things he did for those Newton "progessives"!
Perhaps with a name like Warren, he could declare he has “Native American” blood, thus yielding him funds from “Lizzy”
The Dems already have their obedient “Republican” and they need to focus on national congressional races.
Why waste effort and money running a candidate who might pose a real challenge to the Dem elite’s favorite “Republican?”
I was very happy the other day to sign a petition to get Scott Lively on the ballot for governor. That is who I will be voting for right through the election. Whether or not he’s even on the ballot. The last person I will be voting for is Charlie Baker.
Any Mayor of Newton must be wildly progressive.
I consider “RINO Republicanism” as the third most popular political party in the U.S., but, thankfully, it’s decreasing. Hopefully, the decrease in RINO Republicanism will continue, because I’m fed up with all of the Leftism that dominates both, major U.S. political parties! The GOP should of stayed a conservative political party, for always, instead of continuing to move leftwards, while the Democrat Party, also, was moving, even more, leftwards!
Frighten a MA lib today—say, “Hey, Warren has dropped out of the race...” Then again such a practical joke won’t work—you’d need the Jaws of Life to pry Liz Warren away from that Senate seat.
To the tune of the Good n Plenty jingle, chorus:
“Charlie says, ‘Boy I hate the Donald!’
Charlie says, ‘Didn’t vote for him!’
Charlie says, ‘I’ll get re elected
They love me even though I’m a Republican’ “
One of the remaining MA candidates for MA gov is Bob Massie, who was running mate for Mark Roosevelt in ‘94. “Republican” Bill Weld carried 71% of the vote that year, winning all but 5 of the communities. He even carried Boston.
