I found out how well ammonia works by accident. Hubby’s mom had bought a bunch of these little tubes of stuff that I can’t remember the name of now. They were filled with liquid. I got bitten and decided to try it and it did the trick.

I noticed it smelled like ammonia and read the ingredients. That’s all it was! And it cost a lot more for one of those little tubes than buying a bottle of ammonia. So now we just keep ammonia on hand and that’s what we use.

I stopped getting bitten when I stopped eating meat. Years later I read about a study that said vegetarians don’t get bitten much because our body odor doesn’t have a meat smell so mosquitos aren’t attracted. I eat fish but I reckon that’s not enough to whet the little buggers’ appetites.

Your hubby’s body odor changed when diabetes reared its ugly head and now they aren’t interested. A little something good with the bad.

Yeah, he does like to hold that over my head when I’m whinng and complaining of itching so much. LOL!

I think I’ll have hubby buy me a bottle of ammonia. The sudsy kind or another kind? Not sure I could give up meat though. We don’t eat as much as we used to, but it’s still in the diet. Mainly chicken and hubby gives me one of his 1/2 slices of bacon when he makes his breakfast.

The fact that he keeps barrels of rain water...very OLD rain water now....is a breeding ground for the little devils. Even though he puts stuff in it to kill the larva. I’d better tell him it’s time to re-treat it.
