SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Some Illinois lawmakers want to give extra money to schools that replace armed security officers with unarmed social workers and behavior therapists, an approach to safety that's far different than a national push to add police or arm teachers following a mass shooting at a Florida high school.
Rep. Emanuel "Chris" Welch, a Hillside Democrat, said he proposed the plan after hearing from advocates who argue that investing in mental health resources is the best way of treating the epidemic of violence.

Clearly a step is the right direction. However, to completely solve the problem, the Leftists need to hand out Participation Trophies, too...that will fix everything.

No amount of tender talking is going to stop a bullet.
The idea is to be ready to neutralize the threat asap.

This probably comes from people who don’t like the presence of cops or armed personnel anyway, for any reason.

Most of the killers were already receiving mental help.
The Psychotropic drugs used to “treat” them have proven side effects such as increased violence and suicide.
The drugs are just a bandaid for deep underlying issues and should not be prescribed like candy. I even had doctor friends suggest I should get some pills when I was grieving over a death in the family.
Much easier to pill someone up and get paid than talk to them and figure it out
Unless the "unarmed social workers and behavior therapists" are bullet-proof the participating school systems may need the extra money to buy replacements...
Transfer all the air marshals to the schools and replace them with unarmed social workers and behavior therapists on all the passenger jets.
That will really comfort the passengers immensely.
Maybe they will try folk singers when this doesn’t work.
