Newly released memos written by former FBI director James Comey indicate that an early 2017 briefing for then-President-elect Donald Trump about the contents of an infamous dossier was held so it could be leaked to media outlets eager to report on the dossier’s allegations. In multiple memos, Comey specifically mentioned that CNN had the dossier and wanted a “news hook” that would enable the network to report on its most salacious allegations even though they had not been verified.

I think he sees the handwriting on the wall finally.
His repeated attempts at trying to convince the public "that-there-was-Trump-collusion-with-Russia-but-we-just-haven't-found-it-yet" have gone flat.
Now it looks like the only collusion was the conspiracy among the democRATS to get Hillary across the finish line and, when that didn't happen, to destroy Trump with a phony "Russia collusion" investigation via a special prosecutor.
Turnaround is fair play and now the hunters are the hunted.

We’ve known for at least a year that it was a setup. At this point, the issue is not knowledge that it was a setup, but what can be done about it. Someone in authority needs to come out on national tv and finally, at long last, tell the truth about this criminal conspiracy to overthrow the results of the election. If all the conspirators skate, this type of stunt will happen again, next time with fewer mistakes and likely success.
And Clinton.

This was the most dumbfounding statement to me out of everything I have heard and read regarding this mess. This is what I want to know.
Was it some kind of blackmail effort?
Was he used by others to give CNN the “hook” and leak to run with their story?
Was it an effort to prevent the truth about how the information was used from coming out?
What was his goal? If he does not lie and does not pull “weasel moves” as he told Trump why would he not tell him? Comey had his own goals and it did not have anything to do with the truth. Clapper had his own goals. Everyone had their own goals, but nobody had the nerve to tell the President that the information was used to wiretap him and members of his campaign not once, but FOUR times???? Why did congress renew the FISA court in the middle of this without a full accounting of how and why this happened and steps to make sure it never happened again? This is crazy. Nobody could be that dumb - nobody. In a sea of leaks and unmasking that Comey surely was aware of he coyly tells the President about the dossier while reassuring him that he (Trump) is not under investigation? It looks like a set-up to me because he did not fully disclose what it was, who funded it, and what it was used for - that is highly deceptive.
It really is ridiculous at every level. We have had over a year of a special counsel investigation with fanned flames of outrage in the MSM and congress primarily because of one man - James Comey. This is it? Who pulled his strings because he does not come across as some kind of mastermind to me?
This plot by all these smart and powerful people looks sillier every day. It looks really bad right now and I am 100% certain it will become far worse after the OIG report drops.
Why in the world would they not release these memorandums to congress? Perhaps the answer is that they actually help the President and if that is true, the plot continues over a year into the Presidency. Watergate is nothing in comparison to this and it still continues?
