Three parents whose children were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 filed a defamation lawsuit on Tuesday against Alex Jones, the right-wing conspiracy theorist who has long claimed the shooting was completely fake and a giant hoax perpetrated by opponents of the Second Amendment.

If this actually goes to court, it will clear up all the conspiracy stuff. Well, as much as it can be cleared up.
Maybe it happened, but was a false flag. That seems possible given the state of thought in this country. OTOH, its possible a nut case kid went in there and shot up the place. It doesn’t make sense. It makes more sense when a kid does this to his peers. The only motive I can see here is to start an anti-gun movement. I can’t see that idiot kid having that motive.

It’s difficult to wean true believers off whatever conspiracy in which they have invested so much of themselves.
Yep. Hence my last sentence.
:)
So Jones is wrong; big deal, people are wrong every day. While I agree Jones can be a kook, but that doesnt take away his right to free speech. If these parents prevail, this means that every time someone speaks it must be the truth. I guess that shuts up Democrats with their lies. Russia, Russia, Russia is fake news as is most news on CNN, etc. Sue the MSM and the rest of fake news.

It also doesn’t take away the right of people to sue him for defamation. So, you can slime someone but there might be consequences.
I think it would be hard to win a defamation suit against Jones unless he singled them out by name and slimed them as liars.
Just posing a theory, even if it is not in agreement with what you feel is true, is not defamation.
I always say this when the subject of Sandy Hook comes up:
The wildest, craziest, kookiest, Alex Jonesiest, off the wall conspiracy theories about Sandy hook are no more bizarre than the many different, conflicting, various and contradictory official versions of the “truth” that the government and the media told us to believe.
On the one hand we have Alex Jones. On the other we have Obama and the media.
Who ya gonna believe?
These parents lost their small children under horrific circumstances. On top of their loss has been added the accusation of being liars. After a while a parent reaches the tipping point. Actions have consequences.
As I’ve already noted, it’s rare when a person can be talked out of embracing whatever their particular kookery. Flat Earthers could see the earth from space and it would only make them embrace their belief all the more.
So, was it faked in the same studio where they faked the moon landings?
I don’t believe Jones has been proven wrong here...
“So, was it faked in the same studio where they faked the moon landings?”

Yup. Except Kubrick, being dead, didn’t direct Sandy Hook.
I would love to see this thing play out in court. Maybe the truth would come out.
In a defamation suit you have to prove how you got hurt by the defendant. I’m not seeing it.

The left doesn’t need “false flags,” they’re just prepared to capitalize on the inevitable.
There are >300 million people in this country, including an incredible number of free-range, un-, mis-, or mal-medicated nut cases. Bombarded with the hateful tripe of the news media and pop culture, they’re bound to pop off with some regularity. The Left, with premeditation are ready with emotional responses, aided by faint-hearted “republican” politicians.
Well, fortunately, unlike on the internet, where no evidence is good enough for conspiratards, in a court of law, things like death certificates, school records, and police reports will certainly be sufficient to establish the facts of the case.
Jones hasn’t named anybody or outed anybody. The parents by going public just outed themselves! Discovery will be interesting because there were lots of things that WERE hushed up quickly about that incident...things no one wanted to talk about! Like Lanza’s father being a bigwig business person....he was in and out of the news focus so fast your head spun. Now is Jones saying it never happened or is he saying it was false flag event? I haven’t followed him recently though I recall in the past he speculated about both possibilities!
‘Families from one of the USs most notorious school shootings have reacted with outcry after NBC broadcast an interview with a leading conspiracy theorist [Alex Jones] who said the incident never happened and that parents faked their children’s deaths.’
It has nothing to do with the father. It’s Jones calling every parent that lost a child a liar.
