An undocumented mother of four from Laredo was detained Sunday by U.S. Border Patrol agents in San Antonio as she brought her 4-year-old special needs son, a U.S. citizen, into University Hospital for orthopedic surgery on his broken arm.
San Antonio attorney Gerardo Menchaca said Monday that the woman, Silvia Macuixele, originally from the Mexican state of Oaxaca, was detained and fingerprinted at a checkpoint north of Laredo on Interstate 35 as she brought her son north by ambulance. Agents then followed the ambulance to San Antonio shortly after 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Menchaca said an incredibly nice agent stayed with Macuixele, who was not in handcuffs, when she arrived at University and then remained in her sons room even as she conferred with her attorney, despite Menchacas protests. She was prevented from contacting her family or leaving the hospital room, and then was taken back to Laredo with her speech-impaired son by agents and not released on her personal recognizance until early Monday.
The federal agency had been informed by a Laredo hospital that Macuixele, who had been twice deported in 2008, would be in transit in the ambulance, said Priscilla Martinez, the immigration coordinator for Workers Defense Action Fund, an immigration advocacy group that assisted the mother and alerted the media.
A statement released Monday by the Border Patrols parent agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said Macuixele is to appear before a federal immigration judge, possibly in May, who will rule on her immigration status and determine her eligibility for relief or removal from the United States. Martinez said Macuixele has reported to law enforcement incidents of domestic abuse by an ex-husband in Laredo and might seek a visa accommodation due to that.

In all seriousness, you travel the roads after midnight at your own peril. I was a musician and came across a lot of sobriety checkpoints or just plain over-zealous cops on my way home from the gigs. I swear the cops think that if you are on the road that late you are either drunk or up to no good.
The cops take pretty seriously the old phrase, “nothing good ever happens after midnight”.
Okay. It sounds like they did it pretty much by the book, while making accommodations for her son to receive the surgery he needed.
So what’s the problem?
Am I paying this the family’s hospital care?
The federal agency had been informed by a Laredo hospital that Macuixele, who had been twice deported in 2008,
Deport her again. And this time nail her feet to the ground in her home country.
L
Treatment at the tax payer's expense, courtesy democrats.
Note: TWICE DEPORTED. Keeps coming back like a bad peso.
yup - the tyranny increases and constitution free zones are everywhere at night.
Not only that, but twice deported during (one would suppose) the Obama adminstration. Were there boo hoo stories written about her then?
Why, yes, yes you (we) are. Why else would she come and make a bee-line to the hospital.
Being humanitarian is all well and good.
But Mexico (or Central America) needs to pay for this one way or the other! Either through oil or slapping a fee on transferring money from US to Mexico or something.
And that is the very least.
And her son is an “American” because she says so?
She was the one who squatted him out on US soil. Not by our choice, hers.
And we’re supposed to so, OH! OK! He’s one of us now, give him the Presidency and his own nuclear weapons!
Or at least free lifetime medical care. Courtesy of us.
Oaxaca and its population are the problem of the savages who run the Mexican “government”. Not ours. And they certainly are not “Americans”.
I swear the cops think that if you are on the road
that late you are either drunk or up to no good.

In this case she was riding in the ambulance and not
driving. Cops just doing their job and checking all
vehicles that come thru the check point. I suspect
this was the Cotulla check point north of Laredo.
Citizens of other countries who broke into our country should be removed regardless of how long they have been able to get away with it.
Meanwhile, 3 weeks ago, I had to go to the emergency room with chest pains and got a bill for $3500 because I have a $5000 deductible. Luckily, it was an esophageal spasm, so I will live and I can continue to help pay for undocumented health care.
Democrats in R jerseys with names like McCain, Graham, Rubio, Hatch, Heller, Hoeven, Murkowsky, Alexander, Corker, Flake and Bush.
Well they sure as hell aren't paying for it.
So she is Mexican, comes here illegally, multiple times, her ex-husband in the U.S. abuses her, so she needs a visa to stay in the U.S.? How does that make sense?
The federal agency had been informed by a Laredo hospital that Macuixele, who had been twice deported in 2008,
...
And she still managed to have an anchor baby four years ago.
Hes one of us now, give him the Presidency and his own nuclear weapons!

Amazingly enough there are freepers who think the children of foreign nationals are natural born citizens and eligible to be President.
Children of foreign nationals are born with multiple citizenships, divided loyalties and allegiances.
They are precisely who the founders were excluding form the office of President.
