Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who sought the Democratic presidential nomination in the 2016 election but lost out to Hillary Clinton, on Monday criticized Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his policies.
"As someone who believes absolutely and unequivocally in Israel's right to exist... we must say loudly and clearly, that to oppose the reactionary policies of Prime Minister Netanyahu does not make us anti-Israel," Sanders told the annual conference of the J Street organization.
He took issue with Israels response to the recent riots along the border with Gaza, claiming Israel "massively overreacted" to the protests.
"The presence of Hamas members among a crowd of tens of thousands does not justify the level of violence we saw, and frankly its amazing to me that anyone would find that point controversial," Sanders said.
"I have condemned Hamass use of terrorist violence and will continue to do so. But that violence cannot excuse shooting at unarmed protesters, and it cannot excuse trapping almost two million people inside Gaza," he charged.

America is dangerously close right now. Israel’s got its problems, too. Social workers here are just plain evil. But if Trump goes down, it’s over for both Israel and America. It’s palpable, the silent war going on.
Is it your thesis that Israelis who politically disagree with the PM are also anti-Semitic?
And yet opposing homosexuality and gender freakishness makes one anti-Semitic according to the Left.
Is it your thesis that siding with Bernie Sanders somehow makes you a purer conservative than those "naive" Bible-thumpers?
The Israelis who oppose Netanyahu are hard Leftists, btw. But I suppose in your book that makes them "allies of western civilization."
That's because liberal American Jews are not only morons, but have replaced the Torah, Na"KH, and Talmud with a whole counter-narrative in which Jews' sole role in the world is as leftist gadflies in "theocratic" chrstian societies (which means they have absorbed an anti-Semitic stereotype). There is no Abraham or Moses or Joshua or David or Elijah or Ezra in their world at all. Their narrative includes pogroms, the civil rights movement, Lenny Bruce, garment workers, Portnoy's Complaint, and as its absolute center, the Holocaust. They have literally replaced Sinai with Auschwitz as the central pivot point of world history.
Oh good grief!
Senator Sander’s use of “we” is annoying.
Is he afraid that the use of “I” would not carry sufficient gravitas? Or perhaps expressing his viewpoint as a personal viewpoint would make him too responsible for his words?
In any event, his “we” has no majesty to it, it reminds me more of Gollum from LOTR.
Well, heck! There’s your answer. Bernie has multiple personalities and “we” is his personal, personal pronoun.
Actually, I oppose Netanyahu. I oppose his habit of hiring a pet leftist to do his dirty work, destroying outposts and “negotiating” with the PA. I oppose the two-state “solution” he’s so hot to implement. I support stopping the attempted invasion that’s now going down at the Ghaza border, but all that shows is that Bibi does not have a death wish. Bernie does, but he’s out of the danger zone. He has a death wish for others, as this harangue of his amply demonstrates.
It’s the Ayn Rand “we” from Anthem. Having no sense of self, the protagonist speaks only in the collectivist first person plural, until his epiphany in the last chapter.
Sanders can’t be Gollum. Gollum is addicted to the “precious,” a magic ring. And to Bernie all wealth must be shared, and there is no magic and nothing is sacred.
I stand corrected; in Jesus’ 3-year ministry before He gave His Life, He preached in many synagogues, to thousands of throngs of Jewish people who sought Him out constantly He ministered to, taught and healed, and the 12 Disciples were all Jewish men. “But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Matthew 15:24).
Because He was rejected as the Messiah by many, who either by their disappointment or misunderstanding in His not coming to overthrow the Roman Empire and set up His Kingdom on earth at that time, or by believing the lies that spread through the Romans that His body was stolen, He directed His Disciples to preach the Gospel throughout the world “to the Jew first, and then the Gentile”, and “to every creature”.
Jewish people who have not received Christ are still looking for their Messiah—and He will reveal Himself to them at Armageddon. “All of Israel will be saved,” the Word tells us.
I’m sorry that I affronted you; may you have a blessed day.

Bernie is upset. Note Bernie said anti Israel not antisemite.
I won’t quote the bs you posted to me.... but I will say this: If labels are to have meaning, they need to be used sparingly.
Calling someone anti-Semitic (and I don’t care where they live) because he or she disagrees with a Jewish politician is tantamount to calling someone who disagrees with Jesse Jackson a racist.
Both are equally wrong.
