At the immediate present, the Federal Government is inflexible in regard to compliance with immigration laws. A strict requirement has been placed on those immigrants who have "green card" permanent residency status. As the 17th of April deadline approaches for filing a tax return, legal specialists recommend completing this obligatory requirement in this country, due to the fact that they (immigrants with green card status) could lose their legal status and be deported if they do not comply with this requirement of legal residents, something that not all of them know.
According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office (USCIS), and the Internal Revenue Service, a person can lose his/her permanent residency status (green card) if one commits an act that, under the law, makes one eligible for expulsion from the United States, such as that desribed in Section 212(a)(4) of the Immigration and Nationality Code (INA). The warning is clear and this Administration is vigilant.

THE FACT
A Permanent Resident should respect all of the local laws, statues and federal laws, such as filing a tax return.
The Trump administration, per the request of the voters, IS taking huge steps in regard to immigration in this country. Funny how the media have refused to say much about this. Have faith, folks.
(immigrants with green card status) could lose their legal status and be deported if they do not comply with this requirement of legal residents, something that not all of them know.
TAXES! We don’t need to pay any stinking taxes!
quote from the Treasure of the United States.
Bush and Obama are grieving.
Nice laws, if individual states ever allow those laws to be enforced.
Su traducción es muy bueno..
¡Gracias!
Oh, and the title, it’s: “You lose your green card (permanent residency status) if you do not file your income tax return.”
so the mexican government is warning it’s people living here to obey the laws?
excellent...
They can always file an extension with the IRS.
I spoke with responsible green card holder friends of mine and they do this most of the time. Like I stated before on another thread, one of my green card holder friends files an extension almost every year and he STILL got his green card 2 weeks ago for renewal.
The govt cares more if you dont pass the background check and it took him 8 MONTHS to get his renewal 2 weeks ago.
It throws me to see the familiar form used this way; but I’m old, and it seems that it’s now used generally in most of Latin America.
1040..?! We don' need file no stinkin' 1040..!!
That requirement has been on the books for many years - nothing new!
Has it been enforced? - dunno!!
“That requirement has been on the books for many years - nothing new!”
see my post # 10, LOL and Freepers only know about this? My Canadian GF is a green card holder and there was even 2 years she missed filing taxes and she STILL got her renewal 2 years ago.
And the best part? She did NOT PAY THE OBAMACARE PENALTY. Because the IRS actually does NOT have a requirement for you to pay the penalty BUT they will take it out in the future if you have a REFUND. Good enough for her because she rarely gets a refund.
“Welcome to America. Now, speak English.”
I understand, just a little
No comprende, it’s a riddle
Now if we can deport those who purposely skipped their court hearings.
I thought they got rid of the penalty?
Wow.
Those courts are already busy.
