Actualmente, el Gobierno Federal es inflexible en el cumplimiento de las leyes migratorias. La puntería está sobre los inmigrantes que poseen la ‘green card’. A medida que se acerca el martes 17 de abril, fecha límite para presentar la declaración de impuestos, los especialistas en el tema legal recomiendan cumplir con ese trámite obligatorio en este país, debido a que podrían perder su estatus legal y ser deportados si no cumplen con su deber tributario, algo que no todos los residentes permanentes saben.
Según la Oficina de Ciudadanía y Servicios de Inmigración (USCIS) y el Servicio de Rentas Internas (IRS), una persona puede perder su estatus de residente permanente (‘green card’) si comete un acto que, bajo la ley, lo haga expulsable de Estados Unidos, tal como se describe en la Sección 212(a)(4) de la Ley de Inmigración y Nacionalidad (INA). La advertencia es clara y esta Administración está vigilante.
Si una persona se olvida de cumplir con la declaración de impuestos, deberá comparecer ante el Tribunal de Inmigración para determinar si podrá o no continuar en el país, ya que su residencia permanente está en riesgo.

As the 17th of April deadline approaches for filing a tax return, legal specialists recommend completing this obligatory requirement in this country, due to the fact that they (immigrants with green card status) could lose their legal status and be deported if they do not comply with this requirement of legal residents, something that not all of them know.

THE FACT
A Permanent Resident should respect all of the local laws, statues and federal laws, such as filing a tax return.
The Trump administration, per the request of the voters, IS taking huge steps in regard to immigration in this country. Funny how the media have refused to say much about this. Have faith, folks.

They can always file an extension with the IRS.
I spoke with responsible green card holder friends of mine and they do this most of the time. Like I stated before on another thread, one of my green card holder friends files an extension almost every year and he STILL got his green card 2 weeks ago for renewal.
The govt cares more if you dont pass the background check and it took him 8 MONTHS to get his renewal 2 weeks ago.
It throws me to see the familiar form used this way; but I’m old, and it seems that it’s now used generally in most of Latin America.

see my post # 10, LOL and Freepers only know about this? My Canadian GF is a green card holder and there was even 2 years she missed filing taxes and she STILL got her renewal 2 years ago.
And the best part? She did NOT PAY THE OBAMACARE PENALTY. Because the IRS actually does NOT have a requirement for you to pay the penalty BUT they will take it out in the future if you have a REFUND. Good enough for her because she rarely gets a refund.
