The Marine who became immortalized by playing a brutal drill sergeant in Stanley Kubricks Full Metal Jacket has died.
It is with deep sadness that I regret to inform you all that R. Lee Ermey (The Gunny) passed away this morning from complications of pneumonia, his manager Bill Rogers said in a statement posted to Mr. Ermeys official Twitter account.

Prayers up for the Gunny, who really got it right in FMJ.
Even he wasn't immune to the evil fury of the Hollywood Obolaites who blackballed him after 2010 when he told the absolute truth about Obola and what he was doing to the US. Please read the article to see this.
On a personal note, it really gets to me because I'm a bit north of 75, am in nowhere the great shape Ermey was , and have still managed to outlive him. Thee Grim Reaper strikes when he will.
Prayers up for a great patriot's soul.

RIP for a legend. I did not know he had a role in SpongeBob Squarepants. It fits his sense of humor. Semper Fi.

Condolences to his family and friends.
Gunny, rest in peace...you will be missed by those who, like yourself, loved this country.

Best role, IMHO was not in “Full Metal Jacket” but was in “The Siege of Firebase Gloria,” the best Vietnam war movie ever made.

I just watched a video of D.I.’s and GySgt Emery (Retired) was one of those interviewed. He talked of drilling the young Marines in eight weeks (a very short amount of time) to go to Vietnam into combat.

Way too soon for the Gunny. I was shocked a few months ago to find out he went through boot camp a couple years after me. Would have thought he was before my time there.
There will be no replacing him.
