Facts continue supporting Trump's decision to fire James Comey
The Hill ^ | 04/15/18 | Sharyl Attkisson

A lot of new information has come out in the year since President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey. No matter whether you admire Trump, Comey, both or neither — it’s now difficult to argue that Trump made the wrong move in removing Comey. Even many of Trump’s detractors would agree that no president should keep in place the head of a crucial division who — along with some of his top staff — apparently worked to undermine or control the president, and exercised poor judgment in important matters.

Here are 12 ways Comey has proven Trump was right to fire him.

Etc...

I should also add and I absolutely believe this is true that the coverup was also done to protect the previous President who in the words of Comey “showed bad judgement” in exchanging emails with his SoS via an unsecured server.

John Ratcliffe had one of the best points I have heard about Comey’s decisions today on Fox News.

Comey assumed the authority and mantle of his superiors at DOJ in deciding not to charge. This was wrong and subverted the proper authority of the Executive Branch.

Comey assumed the authority of a Judge in interpreting the applicable statutes (although they ignored many applicable ones) with his addition of the intent clause where it did not otherwise exist. This assumed the power of the Judiciary.

Comey also assumed the authority of congress with his twisted interpretation of a statute that congress wrote.

On top of that, he is now openly admitting what many suspected all along.... that political calculations were a part of his deliberation. “Lordy......”

-- That "intention" excuse should have BLOWN AWAY a well read and educated public. --

That "decline to prosecute" would come from the FBI is another huge red flag. Totally bogus, and proved not only Comey was a skunk, so was the top of the DOJ.

I wonder what fraction of the public is aware the the FBI is not in charge of making "decline to prosecute" decisions -- I mean other than the fact they let their own people off as a matter of professional courtesy.

Obviously by law he can do this..... it is the political price he will pay for it though from his own party who seemingly rush to the defense of the SC despite their lack of curiosity about the other side of the campaign and from the democrats if they take back the house in November. Firing Mueller would certainly energize their base and cement their “resist” attitude.

Based on what I am seeing, which is why I wrote what I wrote above about Republicrats failing to point out that the real collusion is not being investigated, I think there might be enough GOP votes to push articles of impeachment to the Senate.

It is ridiculous and sad, but not sure exercising his lawful authority at this point would be worth the price that would severely damage his Presidency. Pretty sure this is what most of his advisors are telling him.

When I was on active duty in the Navy the job given to the sole or junior Communication Officer was Registered Publications Custodian (RPC). Before assuming those duties, they went through a school where they were subjected to a long list of things they could do wrong with fatal consequences. The joke was that the RPC guys would hold their class reunions at Leavenworth prison.

One cannot be intentionally negligent. If there was intent in the matter, it is not negligence, but espionage.

I’m of the understanding that she’s left, with a conscience and some idealism.

“Apparently for Hillary, ignorance of the law is an excuse.”

Comey so badly wanted to cover for her. But as SOS, she should not have had her own server simply because of US security concerns. She tried to say others had their own personal email accounts, so that was the precedent she claimed (and obama admin allowed her to get away with it).

Again, as SOS, she should have known - in reading the content of the first paragraph of any document - that they were confidential in some way, and not to be accessed by others without clearance.

But the fact is, she had that server set up so she could operate in secret, regarding her Criminal Foundation for one thing, but there were other reasons - such as wanting Sid B. to have access to the files, read and advise her - because she’s actually not the smartest woman in the world (she depended on him to keep that lie going).

I’ve only known that a couple of years.

And I’d like to think I read and know a bit.

Geesh. We’re in trouble. :(

Should have learned that in some course along the way.

Could she have been one of those rare people that just want to get the truth out, no matter which side it is.

For my money she is exactly that kind of reporter. She practically carried the Fast and Furious story by herself to begin with.

And yet that is too generous.

She asked for such an external server, and was told no. Sent her staff to push the issue, and her staff was given a detailed presentation and meeting as to why her setup could not be made secure or compliant. She then immediately went around the system and had her outside servers set up.

I did not know The Hill hired Sharyl. That is great news. This is a good, well researched professional article.
