The Pentagon confirmed later that the airstrikes, conducted along with French and UK forces, targeted chemical weapons facilities in Syria.

The White House released its assessment of the attacks late Friday evening, not long after Trump announced the military action.

President Donald Trump on Friday night announced targeted strikes on Syria to retaliate against a suspected chemical-weapons attack on a rebel-held town nearly a week ago.

The Pentagon confirmed later that the airstrikes, conducted along with French and UK forces, targeted chemical weapons facilities in Syria.

The White House released its assessment of the attacks late Friday evening, not long after Trump announced the military action.

Which obviously was not the basis of the “intelligence.”

Syrian government helicopters dropping barrels of liquid chlorine on people is a great thing?
That was good. I had a mental image of pool chlorine being dumped out by guys with masks from helicopters! Hilarious.

“Despicable as he is, there’s no good alternative to Assad.”

Agreed. and I strongly suspect Trump believes that too given his campaign attacks against Obama/Clinton for taking out Qaddafi in Libya.

The military actions Trump, the UK, and France took did not weaken the Assad regime, but merely punished it for using poison gas by taking out the facilities (including airfields) thought to be directly involved in the gas attacks. I suspect that Assad is simply being “told” what he can and cannot do in the conduct of his civil war.

“If we wanted to, we could have taken out Assad. But we definitely want him in there, but under reasonable control.”

No question about either of your statements. Both are absolutely true.

This document (including the prior incidents) has been debunked?

Ok, for example:

Last fall, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)-UN Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) determined Syria was responsible for the sarin attack on Khan Shaykhun in April 2017.

This has since been debunked or retracted?

Solid references, please.

Given the many times Assad has gassed opponents, in the recent past, if the “United States Assessment of the Assad Regime’s Chemical Weapons Use” is even, say, 1/4 correct, it would appear that as implied by that document, Assad is “staggering” (my word) toward a temporary finish line, and would have a great deal of difficulty “finishing off” the rebels without the use of chem weapons.

I had previously thought Assad’s actions were largely based in sadism plus a need to strike fear — perhaps taking away the chemical weapons option would hamper his current ops more than you think (and I previously thought)?

"On April 7, social media users, non-governmental organizations, and other open-source outlets reported a chemical weapons bombardment in Duma

well if it's posted on Twitter and Facebook and various other unknown sources then it must be true [/sarcasm]

#3. Re drone strikes on kids and teens. Bullshit. They were either with terrorist groups or the children of terrorist leaders travelling with their parents/mainly fathers. Alaki and his son, and a lot of others like them. Not innocent kids targeted for fun.

Their parents doomed them to death by being cold-blooded enough genocidal murderers of Americans, Israelis, Allied forces and their own people. It was their bad luck that they were travelling with, or near senior targets.

War is hell but killing the really evil guys is necessary and if there is unintentional collateral damage, so be it.

With these psychopaths, there is no such concept as “collateral damage”. Everyone they kill or injure was deliberately targeted.

Time to grow up and face the real world.

And what is there #1 source for releasing over 100 missiles into Syria instead of spending that money on our border, securing it from invasion from the South? From the article:

This conclusion is based on descriptions of the attack in multiple media sources,

You got it. The evil media is now our #1 source for military action......

A barrel of chlorine or similar can be made in a garage and does not take a million dollar facility to do it in.

As far as helicopter. I refer you to the US #1 source for intel, the media as stated in assessment.

The FACT is - Democrats get away with indiscriminate killing, whereas Reps are held responsible for every pimple on every butt across the globe.

Lighten up, Francis.

” perhaps taking away the chemical weapons option would hamper his current ops more than you think (and I previously thought)?”

That’s an interesting possibility. but the numbers that have been killed by gas are apparently not large in most cases, and seem to have been mostly women, children and elderly villagers rather than groups of actual arms-bearing fighters. Thus, it appears to me that the gas is more of a terror tactic than a military one, and i wonder if it’ll have the desired effect of weakening “rebel” resolve ... historically, terror attacks on the families of fighters usually has an effect opposite than the intended weakening of resolve, instead strengthening resolve and the desire for revenge ... so even though Assad may believe he needs to use gas, it may be counterproductive ... nonetheless, the fact that he may believe he needs to use gas could indeed indicate the precarious nature of his position.

Because that won’t reveal intel methods. I’d be willing to bet there were GCC HUMINT on the ground there. They have intel well beyond the news reports, not going to go by those alone.

There’s a lot going on in the ME that’s well under the radar.

Yeah I agree the false flag theory is crap. There is no intel or any kind of objective, conclusive, primary source proof for that idea all.

.......”No one holds power long without approval of the global cabal”....

Well they’ve had decades to establish their people as a foot hold in pretty much every Us Gov. dept....and 8 years of Obama’s fast forward appointments to control them. It’s no cakewalk unwinding this ball of yarn they’ve rolled..... What we’re seeing is only the beginnings of exposing and revealing who they are......which is why the pressures on Trump are so great......they know all to well each of them could be next so they’re all fighting or leaving to protect their own butts....

This is no short term war and they’re crossing every line of decency and law without regard for the outcome.....which evidences the power and $$$$ they stand to loose is beyond counting.
