Radio host Art Bell – known for his conspiracy theories and interest in paranormal activity and UFOs – is dead, according to the Nye County Sheriff’s Department in Nevada. “Community Announcement — Long time resident, and radio show host, Art Bell died today at 72 years old in his home in Pahrump Nevada,” the Sheriff’s Department has announced on Facebook.
Few other details were provided. Sharon Wehrly, Nye County Sheriff, said that Bell passed away on April 13, 2018, adding that he was “best known for his conspiracy theories.” How did Bell die? That’s unknown, at least for now. He is scheduled for an autopsy later this week to determine the cause of death and was 72-years-old, the sheriff said in a videotaped press announcement. I don't think Noory has ever disagreed with a guest, or ever expressed the tiniest bit of skepticism.
Just overheard two guys on HAM radio the other day talking about Art. One of them lives in north Nevada and the other guy asked if he knew Art. Bell, of course, was a long time amateur radio enthusiast.

Of all of Art’s replacements, I thought Whitney Strieber had the personae and voice for the job. I’ve grown to like George Noory for his familiarity.alone but he’s waaay too “gee whiz.” I liked Striebe’s sange froid.
Art continually warned Noory about Ouija boards being very harmful. Noory still coos about them which makes me scream at radio.
George Noory had too many outright fake interviews. What I absolutely didn’t like about him is that he kept inviting that fraud Nancy Lieder on his show even after he said he would never have her on his show again. It shows no real integrity.
He did have a great voice that didn’t fit his very ordinary looks. Perfect for radio! Remember the recording from hell? Also Mel’s Hole. Very sorry to hear he didn’t live longer.
I wish the doubled overnight show was about normal subjects. I don’t mind conspiracy theories or some scary ghost stuff at Halloween, but I hated hearing the anal probing ET landings and whatnot. Radio is great at night, knocks me to sleep, but I’m not into occult stuff and most of it is just ridiculous.
Yes, he was. When Noory took over from Art, I quickly lost interest in the show. He just never could fill Art's shoes.
Heavy smoker Art Bell was way past his expiration date living on borrowed time. RIP.

RIP. His entertaining shows made many a late-night hour seem to fly by.
Sorry to read. The original Art Bell on late night radio was a blast. Never was the same after the troubles with his son.
