Community Announcement Long time resident, and radio show host, Art Bell died today at 72 years old in his home in Pahrump Nevada, the Sheriffs Department has announced on Facebook.
Few other details were provided. Sharon Wehrly, Nye County Sheriff, said that Bell passed away on April 13, 2018, adding that he was best known for his conspiracy theories. How did Bell die? Thats unknown, at least for now. He is scheduled for an autopsy later this week to determine the cause of death and was 72-years-old, the sheriff said in a videotaped press announcement. Heres the short video press conference held by the sheriff:

Did you notice that someone moved this to Chat and deleted all the topics. I guess that someone really does not like Art Bell. They don’t even consider this to be news.
He moved to the Philippines because shortly after Ramona died, some buddy set him up with a young Filipino, and he married her, and he said for immigration reasons, he moved to Philippines to bring her back with the least fuss.
I see what you mean. Lol
Listen to Art Bell long enough and you got a sense of him as a person. For me, three of the most revealing Art Bell moments were: his angry banning of Kreskin after he pulled a con on Art and the audience; a heart-wrenching first night back on the air after the death of Art’s wife Ramona, with Art spending an hour reminiscing about her; and an hour Art spent one night taking calls, struggling with his printer, getting toner all over himself, and then capping it by reading the package warning about the dangers of coming into contact with toner — all with laughter and self-deprecating comments along the way.
Fortuitously, a spurt of UFO sightings, media reports, and fresh books and articles gave Bell abundant new material to talk about and provided a flow of guests for his show. Paranormal subjects like ghosts and ESP were a natural addition. Yet Bell also had scientists like Michio Kaku and Alan Hale on, a wide range of inventors and experts, and authors like Malachi Martin, Dean Koontz, and others.
As Bell explained, some of his UFO and paranormal guests and subjects he believed in, while others he did not but presented in a fair and friendly manner for the audience to consider. Careful listeners could tell the difference. Guests who asked Bell what he thought risked being told, politely, that he did not quite agree.
I started listening to Art Bell when an old friend called to tell me of how, on a business trip to Sandia Labs, he had to stay an extra day because the scientists he was to meet with were preoccupied with analyzing video of a major UFO sighting in Phoenix. Returning home, he told his wife and found that she knew all about the Phoenix lights because she had been listening to Art Bell. As for the scientists at Sandia, they were or became UFO believers -- and one of them in later years became a guest on Bell's show on a paranormal subject.

“His teen son was sexual abused by a teacher with HIV+ right? What ever happened with that?”

That was tragic. Apparently the perp got life:

What I was concerned about is my now vague recollection of things like him being on the air and having to get off due to some kind of dangerous situation. Even a policeman who heard the broadcast drove up there to check on him. I don’t know what that was all about. I also thought it was a little odd marrying someone so much younger who wouldn’t have the maturity level of someone like Ramona who seemed to keep him on an even keel. But I think Ramona dabbled in some kind of occult practice, which I absolutely would not recommend. I don’t know anything about his other kids and wives.
His on air personality was indisputably great. But I’m not so sure about his off air life.
The Nye County sheriff also shared the news of Art Bells death on Twitter:
On Twitter, Bells last tweet was a retweet about UFOs. On Facebook, where he frequently posted photos of his family, Bell posted on April 12:

On April 9, 2018, Bell seemed in typical form on his Facebook page, writing,
The FBI has just Raided the office of the Presidents Lawyer. This is pretty serious stuff and I want to say again if the hate of Trump continues to be manifested by investigating everything Trump has ever done they will get him on something eventually. If you tear anybodys life apart and look at every little thing they have ever done, you can get them.
Even if 99% of what the guest on his show said was made up. He was a master Talk show radio interviewer.

Loved listening to his late night talk show. “From the high desert...”.
And yet it didnt work. She never got a green card. Wonder why.
Last night #artbell was the #3 U.S. trending topic on twitter.
Today, Matt Drudge gave Art Bell's death a top spot on his page, and also posted a youtube link to the infamous Area 51 caller.
Art was a well-known Vietnam-era Air Force veteran who chartered a DC-8 to fly to Vietnam and rescue 130 Vietnamese orphans stranded in Saigon at war's end. He was unapologetically pro-life, an outspoken Second Amendment advocate, libertarian, and one of the most vocal Trump supporters on social media. He was also a FReeper, if only a lurker.
Even though he was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame, he was a famously humble and private man. Though I would like to see this one thread about his death be allowed to stay on the main page, because it is news, I think he'd probably be amused about it being relegated to "chat".
RIP, Mr. Bell.
Thanks, VK. Just a simple Google search. Yup. Found lots of links. So many hours of chuckling enjoyment are to be enjoyed.

PING.
Check out # 192.

Interesting. So it’s a path that more frustrated journalists should take — rather than writing fake news for Zuck.
.
Most just do “latest posts,” where it doesn’t matter what forum the article is posted.
The lastest news is usually on top anyway.

I know I will miss him.
I really enjoyed his program driving late at night.
I gave up on Bell when he went whole hog on the AGW thing. That was about that time frame. He had a real climatologist on that pointed out historical facts about the climate, and for at least the next three weekends, he had AGW posers on to counter that show.
One the last time I listened to Art, the guest was pushing for everybody to become vegetarians to downsize the number of methane producing/greenhouse effect enhancing, cows. I turned off Art, and never tuned him in after that.
And then there was that PI thing. The Philippines are on the "ring of fire" with notable active volcanoes, not to mention a frequent target of typhoons. If Bell really believed in climate/Earth changes, why the heck did he leave the "high desert", young tart aside, to go stick his neck out in that part of the world?
Art Bell was unique. He was very shy but also very gracious and sincere.
I made a point to meet him in person and I spent a little over an hour speaking with him. Extremely interesting visit.
100% many an enjoyable hour spent with Art
