(Full title: Donkey running on Highway 101 shot and killed by Mendocino County Animal Control officers)
An aggressive 40-year-old donkey loose on Highway 101 in Hopland was shot and killed by Mendocino County Animal Control officers Wednesday at the request of the animals owner.
The 500-pound donkey was reported running on the highway around 3:30 p.m. prompting a response from the CHP, Caltrans, the Mendocino County Sheriffs Office and animal control, authorities said.
The donkey posed a threat to drivers coming around a blind corner on Highway 101, the Sheriffs Office said in a statement. A driver was injured after striking a horse March 26 near the location of the loose donkey.
Officers chased the donkey off the highway and up a small hill, but the animal attempted to get back on the roadway, the Sheriffs Office said. The donkey was known to be very aggressive and had injured and killed other animals on the farm it lived on about a mile away.
Animal control officers did not have the drugs needed to tranquilize a large animal, the Sheriffs Office said. Its owner, who had fallen and suffered minor injuries while trying to keep the donkey off the highway, asked animal control officers to put down the animal.
Officers shot and wounded the animal, which moved up the hill away from the highway, the Sheriffs Office said. The donkey was removed by the owner on a small flatbed trailer after it was finally put down.
“...40-year-old donkey...”
Didn’t know they lived that long. Poor critter.
You certainly are a Johnny-one-note when it comes to police.
Give it a rest.
.
The slime excreting Democrat party is a terrible injustice done to an innocent animal. I mourn that poor donky’s passing more than I would any of the vile bastards of that evil, squalid coven.
Working donkeys in the poorest countries have a life expectancy
of 12 to 15 years;[15] in more prosperous countries, they may have
a lifespan of 30 to 50 years.[5]

Some people call it “consistent”.
Why were animal control officers holding the animal?
Someone should put down the journalists who use grammar like that.
I would have thought it rather
humorous to hear the cops ask
the owner if they could
pop a cap in
his ass.

Plus there's the added detail about its weight, 500 lbs.
One of the purposes of a donkey is to kill animals that are trying to harm livestock. Donkeys stomping coyotes is a sight to behold.

Well, If you must know, as I was reading about this animal’s demise, I had my nearly 12 year-old female Golden Doodle lying at my feet. I was way more moved about the animal’s death than those who caused it.
As far as how I view the police, you don’t know $hit! I have a very close working relationship with our local police. They help me in my business on an almost weekly basis. And as a matter of fact, I had dinner with our town’s first police chief (now retired) and his wife two nights ago. So you might want to give it a rest. There are good cops and not so good cops. I applaud the former and call out the latter.
I don’t know about Mendocino County, but I do know that jackasses are rife in Mendacity
very similar to the Democratic Party. been real strong (communist) for the past 40 years and should have a similar ending.
