Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., says he believes a majority of the public doubts the official U.S. government contention that Syrian President Bashar Assad used chemical gas against the final rebel-held town near Damascus.
Anybody who has tried to explain to me why Assad would do this sounds like a conspiracy theorist, said Massie, a libertarian Republican from Kentucky. It requires really contorted thinking to think Assad did this. You have to come up with very complicated reasons.
I cannot think of a reason he would, Massie said.

Sadly a lot of ‘conspiracy theorists’ on THIS SITE also.
It’s true because our intelligence community tells us it’s true. They wouldn’t lie to us or would they?
Depends how you use the word doubt.
Do I believe with 100% assurance that Assad govt did it? Of course not.
Is it the most likely probability? Yes. Call that doubt if you want.
Should we prove it first? At this point I would say yes, build a strong case. If we weren’t going to retaliate against Syria for use of chemical weapons within the first 12-24 hours, we now need to build a coalition of support for punishment.... unfortunately.
Quick!
Cancel the entire intel budget and hire pollsters to determine foreign policy!
Don’t do it, Mr. President. Leftists and Islamists use false flag operations all the time and this has all the signs of one. Chlorine is the easiest to produce and oldest of all the CW agents. It can be delivered by regular and homemade artillery. Please, DON’T DO IT!!!
Thanks to W’s blundering in Iraq likely few will believe it ever again.
Despots and madmen are now free to gas their own people at-will. Thanks, George.
Someone put up a short video-clip of the ‘canister’ (3 days ago) used in this attack. The comment is that it was dropped via a helicopter, and ‘landed’ into the building. I sat there....having seen pictures before, and have to say that this was the least damaged bomb/canister that I’ve ever seen. Zero dents.
You mean ALL the Intel agencies that say Trump colluded with the Russians? Including those run by Clapper and Brennan?
This is getting really screwy.
However, it lends support for my argument that Trump and the U.S. have no business being a moral punisher of other nations.
Most of the public doesn’t know or care.
Myself included.
I believe there are UK intelligence agents on this site attempting to guide people here towards anti-Russian sentiment.
There are cleaners that have warning labels warning that mixing with bleach creates chlorine gas. I did it once by nit reading the labels until it was almost too late.
Has anyone bothered to ask the Syrian people who they think did this?
“I believe there are UK intelligence agents on this site attempting to guide people here towards anti-Russian sentiment.”
I’m thinking that too. Something is going on here when their arguments are reduced to claiming that because the Russian nukes are 30 years old, they pose no threat to us.
“My husband cheated on me in the past but he wouldn’t do it now”
Assad has a history with chemical weapons. Besides, the Iranians are all over the place and they wouldn’t hesitate to use them.
We know they were used so Assad better get with the program and blame the Iranians. Denying their use will just make him look guilty.
Right on.
Let me see if I have this right -
Some Syrians killed some other Syrians.
Because of this, we will kill yet more Syrians.
We will kill these Syrians because we are ‘better’.
Am I missing something?
1. Trump announces plan to pull out of Syria.
2. Establishment strongly against it.
3. Russia warns of potential false flag chemical attack.
4. Chemical attack happens, despite Syria on the verge of winning the war?
Something just doesn’t add up here.
Right after Trump announces that he is about to pull out of Syria...., Assad gasses his own people for no reason just to make Trump stay in Syria?
This makes no sense at all.
Smells like another false flag.
I would simply add that it all adds up to violating the sovereignty of other nations without which we slide very quickly into the darkness of global totalitarian government.
